Poor quality shows after a short time.

Strengths:

At first, it seemed well enough, it works at USB 3.0 speeds and connectivity is as expected. I get good power out of the ports that remain functional.

Weaknesses:

The ports are very low quality. After only a dozen insert / remove cycles, two of the ports broke, leaving only the pins. The blue plastic inserts snapped right off.

Additional Comments:

Buy this only if you plan to connect something, and leave it connected forever. Don't buy this if you're planning to insert and remove thumbdrives or cables often. I'm down to 5 / 7 ports from gentle use after only a year.

From: Calgary, duh.

Works fine, but...

Strengths:

Seems like a quality product, and reiieves me from having to crawl under my desk every time I want to plug in a USB device. It charges up my phone, my smartwatch, powers my webcam, my USB external drive and the mystery cable I have installed but can't quite see where it goes. Mouse works fine when I use the dongle rather than the built-in Bluetooth.

Weaknesses:

For some reason, every time I boot up my PC or plug something in, Windows gives me an error message saying it doesn't recognize the last USB device plugged in and it has failed. But it hasn't failed. The Vantec website says the unit is plug'n'play, and that's the way it behaves. Weird, but IDC since it does everything it should.

Additional Comments:

Does everything it should, except for that weird error message. Would buy again, I guess. Error message means my rating drops 1 star.

No lag, works great.

Strengths:

I used this and a bunch of other wires to migrate my entire PC tower into another room of my house. No perceivable input lag even while gaming. More than enough ports but if you need more, there is a ten-port option. Aluminum housing is nicer than I thought it would be.

Weaknesses:

Wall mounts extend past the ends of the housing like two diving boards. Can not turn off the blue LED. If I can't turn off the blue LED, make it RGB.

Additional Comments:

Dank, I love it. I was wrong to be worried about lag. I have heard that it is possible to get input lag if you stress the 3.0 bandwidth with a heavy data load. But... I don't do that. With this [insert product ;) ], two 15ft Dp++ cables, 15ft 3.5mm cable, 15ft USB 3.0 A-B cable, 15ft Cat 6 shielded cable, and an extension cord; you can place your PC in the basement and chill in your main floor office with no heat or noise. Experiment=Sucessful!

Faulty ports

Strengths:

Feels like a quality build

Weaknesses:

Ports 4, 6, 7 were faulty in the sense that my gaming mouse and external hard drives would keep losing connections when running a virus scan or just general data transfer.

Additional Comments:

Not sure it was faulty, although it just didn’t work well so I returned it and will consider other options.
