Acid Rewind - 3D Polycarbonate Keycaps

ACID REWIND gives a nod to the retro aesthetics of the past, evoking a time when everyday technology products burst with personality and Vibrant Hues. In this project, we incorporated the boldness of neon green from that former era with design frameworks of today to create a vibrant yet understated theme.

ACID REWIND gives a nod to the retro aesthetics of the past, evoking a time when everyday technology products burst with personality and Vibrant Hues. In this project, we incorporated the boldness of neon green from that former era with design frameworks of today to create a vibrant yet understated theme.

For this keycap set we used a brand new keycap manufacturing method which allows for the legends to appear to be floating inside the keycap. This is made possible thanks to the polycarbonate materials used but more importantly a 3-stage molding process which we have pushed the limits of the manufacturing process to achieve this effect.

Leveraging the ACID REWIND theme we used bright neon greens for the floating legends and a combination of semi-transparent greys and blacks as the backdrop to allow for contrast, and finally using a 100% clear polycarbonate top layer to maximize the clarity of the legends.

This bubbly profile is reminiscent of the first early retro mechanical keyboards. The tall row height is less sculpted than most profiles and has deep but well-rounded grooves providing a very friendly typing experience. These tall, thick and rounded keycaps play well with the polycarbonate material which provides a marbley sound signature.

With 124 Keycaps this set is compatible with all standard layouts including 60%, 65%, TKL, 96%, full sized and others. Please check the diagram below and compare with your desired keyboard layout before purchasing.

Unlike most polycarbonate keycaps, this set features a low transparency base which is not intended for RGB lighting too shine through, but rather allows for high contrast and visibility of the legends in both well-lit and low-lit environments.
