Nice features and well built but, Intel I225 LAN has a hardware failure

Strengths:

Love the white on black for the PCB, visually very striking. Lots of bang for the buck as there are lots features for a B series motherboard.

Weaknesses:

Unfortunately, the Intel I225 LAN port is defective from the factory. Yes, Asus chose to put this hardware on the board but I'm not going to put my ire on them as it is Intel's fault for producing a defective product in the first place. The LAN port has a hardware defect that can't be fixed with drivers or software to my knowledge and on forums/reddit, many other purchasers of this board and its equivalents (along with Intel Z490 motherboards) have reported the LAN port cutting in and out for a wired connection or just straight up not working. I have found a solution to being able to use the LAN port by significantly kneecapping the bandwidth by changing the Speed and Duplex from Auto Negotiation to 10Mbps Full Duplex (the Speed and Duplex setting could vary by how fast your internet is. This is just the setting that would work for me). I wish Asus had issued a recall on these affected products.

Additional Comments:

Its a good board overall I'd say (well if you can get it on sale like i did. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for this board knowing its got defective hardware, unfortunately I got it on sale for 189.99 so now I feel like I've over paid) but you'll need to buy either a Wired or Wi-Fi Network Card or a USB Ethernet adapter to have a stable internet connection.

Decent Motherboard for a Reasonable Price

Strengths:

Well the items I was looking for was decent onboard sound, Intel NIC. I didn't want an 800 series Realtek audio, I wanted a 1200 series with decent circuit isolation. I'm not a fan of Realtek LAN, so an Intel NIC was a must. I also didn't want to pay more than $250 for a motherboard either. This motherboard fit all those requirement. It works well with a white build which I was doing with this motherboard (Corsair 5000D Airflow in white). Looks are subjective though.

Weaknesses:

Well the photos make it look like there is RGB/ARGB elements on the motherboard, there are not. The cover on the IO shield with the ROG symbol isn't lit, that's a decal. It does however support RGB/ARGB with headers, so you can use Aura Sync. I was a little disappointed to find out the motherboard didn't light up like my ASUS Prime X570 Pro. If RGB isn't important to you, then this might not be a weakness to you.

Additional Comments:

Ultimately this motherboard ticked all the checkboxes I was looking for. It POST'ed after taking the usual for AMD long time to train memory on the first try. It had no issue supporting DOCP of 3200 speed DDR4. It doesn't see heavy use as I built this system for my daughter using 16GB of RAM with a R7 3700X, and a 1TB nVME SSD. So you if you are looking for a decent motherboard that doesn't break the bank, white / brushed aluminum aesthetic, decent onboard sound, and an Intel NIC, don't look any further. Furthermore, this board will likely support a moderate overclock / PBO as the VRMs have some decent cooling.
