Strengths:
Captures video as good as can be expected from RCA
Decent input lag if using retro systems
Weaknesses:
Very, very fiddly to get set up
Not plug and play
Poor documentation
Additional Comments:
It does the job it says but you really need to know what you're doing. It feels like it was designed in the Windows 98 era with how many things you need to do to get it up and running.
Windows 10 doesn't automatically install a driver, you need to download it from the website and install it. The first driver listed is the 32 bit version which doesn't work on anything in the last ten years but is, oddly enough, newer than the 64 bit driver. At least it's from late 2021 so they still update it once in a while.
The software is the same; once it's downloaded the setup file is one directory down in the zip file in the CMS folder. You'd figure they could just have put a shortcut in the base directory. Once you agree and click install it just shows a window saying "Installing". No progress bar, no indication of whether it's doing anything. After about 5 minutes it finally says it's done. Once you're in you need to launch the advanced video editor. Everything else is just for burning or editing DVDs.
Once it's up and running I had a very bad buzzing sound coming from anything I plugged into it. To fix it I changed the audio input from the default "USB analog audio capture" to "Analog audio in" then back again. It's still there but the audio gain is fixed so it's barely noticeable. This isn't in the main settings menu, there is a separate settings button near the bottom right of the window for inputs.
All in all, I would only recommend this if you have some experience with the old days of trying to get hardware up and running and using vague software. I can foresee having some audio issues in the future but I'm patient enough to do some tweaking and fixing. If you're looking for a one stop plug and play solution, this isn't it.

Strengths:
I have only copied my VCR tape to my computer so far, so I cannot say if the software to burn the file to a DVD works.
Once you have figured out how to install and use the software, the video capture works well. I have only used it for less than an hour so far; just to test it.
Weaknesses:
The software is horrible; installation and figuring out how to do video capture were difficult. I wanted to include information below to hopefully save time for other people, but the MemoryExpress website has a limit for the amount of info you can provide; sorry.
Short tips:
- install PowerDirector 10 DE from a Windows Administrator account.
- When doing video capture, check settings in Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab.
Additional Comments:
Excluding the part of burning the movie to DVD, which I have not tested yet, it works well. But the software installation and learning how to use the video capture was very difficult; see the information in Weaknesses above to save yourself the trouble I went through.
The manufacturer appears to have little respect for their customers, as shown by the horrible software experience. I hope the hardware lasts, now that I have the software set up and working.

Strengths:
Actually worked one time.
Good for capture and burning to DVD's only apparently
Weaknesses:
Only worked one time.
Good for capture and burning to DVD's only apparently
unclear (NO) instructions
no documentation
Additional Comments:
I recognized the AverMedia name from 20 years ago, a little sketchy and amateurish back then I thought they would have improved but have not in my opinion. You would be better looking for a product from a company like Hauppage or someone committed professionally to their product.
I returned mine
