Additional Comments:
I posted one of the earlier and very negative reviews of the SA510 drive. And it was a dog, no mistake. At some point in 2023 WD posted new firmware for the drive. With that firmware installed the drive performs well, as you would expect a middle of the road SATA III SSD to behave.

Strengths:
Was the cheapest 1TB SATA SSD I could find.
Weaknesses:
Requires a firmware update in order to be stable and not die.
Additional Comments:
I've had this drive for over 18 months. Original issue was the entire PC would freeze overnight. I took it out of service for a couple of days. PC was stable.Didn't bother putting it back in until I checked for any firmware updates. There was one. I applied it. I haven't had trouble since. PC runs stable 24x7.

Strengths:
Easy to install and get suckered into placing your data on
Weaknesses:
We purchased 72 WD Red Pro Nas drives a few years ago for several distributed storage units in multiple sites and had almost every drive suddenly suffer a complete controller failure within 2 months of each other after 3 years + a day of use. It was statistically impossible to have that many random failures across completely separate sites, servicing and environments.
We discovered and ultimately joined a class action suit against WD for this problem as it was a global phenomena (Google WD class action) and received a whole $6 in compensation for each $400 drive. Mechanically the units were fine, WD just suddenly had the controllers vaporize all data access and lockout.
Additional Comments:
This looks like a new SSD version of the same (soon to be class action lawsuit) WD planned obsolescence tactic. Stay away from Western Digital and let them die the organizational death they deserve.
