Great 1080p Gaming at a Fair Price

Strengths:

Freesync works great with DisplayPort from my NVidia GPU. No dead pixels out of the box. Easy to assemble stand. Set up was simple: plug and play, with lots of meaningful adjustable settings. I love the one-knob setting adjustment. Colours are accurate to my eyes, and blacks seem genuinely black. I like its overall appearance, too: nothing gaudy or beating you over the head with the brand, just a functional monitor with an MSI logo etched into the bottom bezel.

Weaknesses:

A true minor gripe: The stand brings the monitor too far forward for my desk and where I sit. I suppose I could say that's the desk's fault as much as the monitor stand, and it will be easy to correct.

Additional Comments:

It's worth the money, especially as an upgrade from an old monitor or anything with a slower refresh rate. On sale it would be an absolute steal. My previous monitor was a 60hz LED television, so to me the upgrade is absolutely massive. I might be overstating its value to someone who already has a quality gaming monitor they like and enjoy. TL;DR: Would buy again, would recommend.

A Great Consideration When On Sale

Strengths:

The IPS panel allows for good viewing angles, and the colors of the monitor are really nice which is good for gaming though it might not be the most color accurate for video/photo editing due to the colors just being a little more saturated than other monitors. The colors are amazing though overall. No noticeable input lag and at 144hHz playing games at high FPS is smooth.

Weaknesses:

Scenes with mainly black or darker environments show grey spots on the sides not too harsh but noticeable, this is just a side effect of IPS panels and maybe it is because this monitor doesn't have a higher NIT number. Colors are more saturated than other competitors resulting in the slightest bit of color inaccuracy when editing photo or video. Out of box the monitor did seem warmer on white pages, not super warm but noticeably warmer than my Samsung monitor, I am not sure if it 's because of calibration or simply how MSI handles their color temperatures.

Additional Comments:

The colors for video games are great and immersive, and overall are amazing for web surfing and video watching. Other than the slightly more saturated colors and grey areas on darker scenes, this monitor is great if you can grab it on a deal.

Solid 1080p high-refresh gaming @ $250 (boxing day).

Strengths:

Flawless Freesync, even with Nvidia GPUs (over DP). Minimal backlight bleed in corners and edges. Deep blacks. Excellent pixel response time, no detectable ghosting or artifacts even with "overdrive" set to fast. Very good colour accuracy out of the box, very good after calibration (with a Spyder). Detailed and logical OSD for monitor adjustments.

Weaknesses:

Annoying issue with monitor disconnecting when PC goes into sleep mode, which moves all open windows to the other monitor (dual monitor setup). Slight washout at right and left extremes, as is typical with IPS - blacks lighten a bit, and whites darken a bit (1 star docked).

Additional Comments:

For $250 (boxing day sale), this was a no-brainer. Colours, contrast and brightness are very good out of the box, and even better once calibrated. Freesync works flawlessly even with Nvidia GPUs. This is a solid deal for high refresh 1080p gaming. 1 star docked for the slight white washout / black lightening at the the extreme right and left edges.
