Strengths:
Sounds great
Can power even audiophile quality headphones that require 250+ ohms
One of the few DACs with true analog surround outputs
Being able to control mic and sound input/output levels is extremely useful
This new version of S-XFI is much improved over the previous iterations used by Creative
Weaknesses:
Needs to use the software AND a phone app to get the most out of the hardware. The phone app is needed to change the equalizer settings for S-XFI mode. The default settings are fine, but having to use another piece of software to access it is annoying.
Additional Comments:
Does everything you expect a DAC to do and does it well. No regrets with this purchase at all. Being compatible with so many devices is just another benefit. Works great out of the box even without any software adjustments, but you can still use the software to really fine tune it. Truly a fantastic external DAC.
