Great for NAS

Strengths:

Reliable and great for NAS, or servers.

Weaknesses:

Slow compared to SSD, not great for computers. (everyone should know this in 2024)

Additional Comments:

Quality product, I have 2 of these in my Synology NAS. And will be adding 2 more over time, NAS runs 24 hours a day constantly backing up all photos from phones and other devices on network. I am constantly purchasing and downloading new content to save to NAS, the family simultaneously streaming different content to all devices in my home with no issues. Other family members have the Iron wolf hard drives in their NAS as well, and all our NAS's are backed up to each other and out of the 10 or more Iron wolf hard drives we have purchased in the past 4-5 years. None have failed.

Super disappointing

Strengths:

Good specs.

Weaknesses:

Failed after less than a year.

Additional Comments:

Used it in a desktop system that has seen light use--web browsing, office work, no gaming. Used it as an external backup drive for a few months, meaning it was in used for maybe an hour a week. Then put it into a new desktop system. Used it for 5 months, only to find Windows reporting it as raw. Recovery software finds nothing but bad sectors. My data is gone. It's still under warranty (yay?) but I really don't want another one of these. I don't trust them at all. If they send me a replacement, I'm just going to sell it off or use it as a secondary backup. You've been warned.

Garbage 2.0

Strengths:

Seagate does not know the meaning of the word, strengths

Weaknesses:

It appears shipping alone is enough for the head to get stuck on a platter and scream as it is trying to position it self. If these drives cant survive the journey to me maybe Seagate needs to re-evaluate somethings.

Additional Comments:

I got my third Replacement Seagate Ironwolf 12tb. It too was dead on arrival with only screeches deadlier than a banshees' and no detection by two pcs. Back on Seagate's Chat I went only to be asked to pay for shipping once again. Three dead HDDs, two of which are the newer pro models, were never detectable and the first one lasted a month. Memory Express, Can you please add a 0 star option for Seagate products in the future.

Good Drives

Strengths:

Good transfer speeds. Good Price for size.

Weaknesses:

None

Additional Comments:

Running a pair in my media server for over a year now. No problems, even with half a dozen streams running.

Garbage

Strengths:

None

Weaknesses:

Complete lack of quality

Additional Comments:

Lasted for less than a month, just long enough for me to recover another dying drives data to, and then it gave out. Losing everything that I had just managed to save. I bought a Western Digital 14TB Red Pro a month before for the same system. More than a year later it is still going strong and i just received a replacement from Seagate. low and behold the new Iron Wolf pro is dead on arrival too. Please stay a way form all Seagate products if you value your data, and 10 years in IT tells me most people do in fact care about their data. If you do buy Seagate drive you better buy all the drives they have because your gonna need them for parity drives in a nas... or just buy from a better company.
