Worst Drive I have ever seen!

Strengths:

None that I can speak of

Weaknesses:

-Dies very quickly, lasted less than 5 months -Second drive from warranty never worked out of the package -Makes very odd clicking

Additional Comments:

I have had to get 2 of these drives, first one died right after 5 months for no reason. Staff was very helpful in having to send in the drive to get tested which took 2 weeks to get back and installed the new drive and instantly same issue as my original, never worked at all. Worst drive I have ever! I have other hard drives that are still going strong 10 or more years old, this can't even last 6 months! Do not waste your money getting this drive, it is absolutely horrible.

No issues from my hdd

Strengths:

Faster than what I had installed, more storage than what I had, little noise if any, cheaper than top brands, has held up to long term hard gaming sessions for me

Weaknesses:

Slow at times but might be the games themselves

Additional Comments:

Went from 500gb in a ps4 slim to 2tb, improved loading times on games such as rdr2 and destiny 2, then I purchased a ps5 and I am currently using it as a external hard drive for ps4 game storage to the ps5 console, been using for 2 years now if not longer, for a cheaper option and on sale when purchased it has worked perfectly, little to no noise in my experience, would recommend if on a budget and it is on sale

Strengths:

inexpensive

Weaknesses:

Almost too many to list. These drives (ST2000DM008) are not the same as the original (ST2000DM001) which they are being sold as. These are SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) drives and should be labeled as such. SMR drives are just OK for long term storage, but are terrible for random read and writing as is used in a normal desktop. They are also very noisy.

Additional Comments:

Don't buy SMR drives. SMR drives are only good for the manufacturer and/or seller, but buyer beware.

bought one, first one had clicking, got it exchange, second one has clicking, I might be going back and getting a third to see if it works

Strengths:

uh, not much, 2tb storage, easy to connect I guess

Weaknesses:

makes noises that lead to harddrive failure in the future. tried twice now for a decent hard drive from here... ;/

Additional Comments:

got 2 harddrives, both have noises that lead to failure, it is functional though, but it will just lead to harddrive failure that could happen at any time..

Dead after a year in PS4 Pro

Strengths:

Good while it lasted, Price was ok.

Weaknesses:

Stopped working after a year of minimal use.

Additional Comments:

I have never had issues with a HDD for any pc's or any gaming consoles. Decided I was going to get a samsung ssd drive but on the recommendation of the sales agent he advised this was the better value, at the time $119.99 for a 2TB was a good deal, vs $219 for 1TB of SSD. After a year of it being in the PS4 Pro, it did not spin anymore. I had 4 games installed on the drive, and it was minimally used so it was a huge surprise to me. I will say though the client center rep working the warranty line was awesome. It's too bad now that I have to wait 7-10 business days to have the drive replaced.

great value as a storage drive since it's better than most 5400rpm drives

Strengths:

- Great price per TB ratio for a HDD (the only drives have lower price per TB ratio are the seagate 2.5" 5400rpm external drives, which are slower) - 7200 rpm with 256mb cache offers a decent speed for you to store some movies and games

Weaknesses:

- As the others said, since it's a mechanical HDD the DOA failure rate is higher than similar SSDs, so do run some write/read tests after the purchase

Additional Comments:

Storage drive that offers a very good value, but do run some read/write tests after the purchase

bad quality and speed

Strengths:

This hard drive have only one disk inside. High compression level (SMR technology). And for sustained transfer huge files it good But for small files it is extremely slow!!! Good for cheap computers and slow devices.

Weaknesses:

bad quality and cheap product. High failure rate.

Additional Comments:

Good price, Good for desktops where used data backup. match only for desktop and thin clients. Good for some non important devices.

Garbage

Strengths:

None

Weaknesses:

Ran in the system for a grand total of 4 hours before completely bricking.

Additional Comments:

It's almost 2020 and Seagate apparently still can't make a reliable HDD.
