Mac Pro 5,1 write speeds excellent in 4x slot

Strengths:

Read/write 1300 ~ 1600 in x4 slot on mac pro, typically a 700 speed for OWC adapter

Weaknesses:

Instructions could be better for fixing blade, be nice to flip plastic panel so it read correctly in mac pro...but the side is always on anyway.

Additional Comments:

For $25 it's a great nvme solution for older machines.

Works but instructions are mostly useless

Strengths:

Device generally works as advertised, but can't properly benchmark it as it's going into an older system with PCIe gen2 slots. I did not have any difficulty getting the device working with the older computer.

Weaknesses:

Manual is printed in black and white, so images are effectively useless. Plus the instructions show lots about using the included thermal material, but effectively nothing about how the mount nuts are attached. The mounting nuts are not attached by default, and the instructions don't visually say, or even describe with text how to attach them. You need to screw the nut into the board from the back, and then screw into the nut from the front to secure the NVMe drive to the board. The instructions also do not show how to attach the expansion slot bracket to the board, or which screws to use. The instructions list an inventory of the included parts, but that inventory doesn't say anything about any screws that are included (they are actually included). So I had to fumble around to figure it out.

Additional Comments:

The device does what you would expect. I haven't seen in-use issues with it yet, but be prepared for a period of "figure it out yourself because we can't be arsed to make actually useful instructions". So if you're okay with that, well this device should work fine for you. Also, the box says it's PCIe gen3, why are there no gen4 or gen5 models in this day and age? I stuck a gen5 NVMe into this thing and of course it's running slower.

Works as advertised

Strengths:

Large heat-sink. The instructions are straight forward.

Weaknesses:

None as of yet.

Additional Comments:

Great for expanding storage if you have a PCIe x4 slot available

meh

Strengths:

It works fine, but I didn't do any speed tests. I'm using it on my server.

Weaknesses:

LEDs are unnecessary, instructions aren't very clear about the screws but I figured it out, the heat pads didn't match the descriptions and the heat sink didn't line up with the screw holes very well, I had to force the last screw in.

Additional Comments:

It's average, price isn't bad for what you get, just wish the 2 slot option was in stock where I bought it.

Does not live up to expectations

Strengths:

Comes with lots of different size heat tape. And the heat sink is massive

Weaknesses:

Incorrect screw for mounting the drive to the board

Additional Comments:

None of the screws provided will mount the nvme drive to the board. Fortunately the drive is squished between two layers of heat tape so it should be fine. However... The read write speeds to not live up to the potential of the drive. Using Crystal Disk Mark I get a read speed of only 799.1 MB/s and a read speed of 796.83 MB/s write speed. Compared to being mounted to the motherboard nvme slot that gets 3495.6 MB/s read and 2571.9 MB/s write speed. I have a Sabrent nvme to pci adapter arriving soon. I will compare to that one and decide which one to keep. But this one is definitely not living up to my expectations
