Strengths of the product

-SteelSeries keyboard feels great, keystrokes are flawless, the RGB lighting which is so easy to use with the dragon center is a nice extra feature. -Speed! We ran multiple benchmarks on the machine and surprisingly everyone came back with very high scores with FPS never dropping below 65, except on Heaven... it went down to 35 fps, which is still better than I expected because it never crashed. That is without undervolting the GPU or overclocking the CPU. Max temp after running 4 back to back benchmarks with Heaven being last was 85 degrees C. -Loot Box and extras, received: the gaming mouse, mouse pad, dragon keychain/free download of Black ops 4 /3 extra months of manufacturer warranty simply by registering -Windows 10 home installed properly, no bugs whatsoever. -All the ports USB/HDMI/ Card reader/ headset and mic work great. -Some people dislike the touch pad, but I actually like it. I use a Lenovo laptop at work and this is much better

Weaknesses of the product

-I would prefer the wired ports to be at the back of the unit like the HP omen so to not take up so much room on the work surface.

Additional Comments

I seriously cannot say enough about this machine, I had a few worries because of bad reviews I read and to spend 1600 can. dollars on a laptop is not an everyday occurrence and I did my research. I can honestly say that this unit is a very good investment in this price range. Memory Express Edmonton South made the process very easy from putting a unit on hold for me for a week with no deposit, and price matching as advertised with a knowledgeable staff to answer my questions prior to finalizing the purchase.

Strengths of the product

- 8th Gen Processor - Gaming Grade graphics card - Excellent Speakers - Lightweight, Portable - High quality SteelSeries Keyboard - Quiet Fans - Best affordable gaming grade laptop - Customizable Keyboard with RGB MSI software - Top Shell and Keyboard are aluminum, higher build quality - Easy to open and upgrade - Came with free high quality mouse and mousemat

Weaknesses of the product

- Problems with Windows Update (Easily fixed after google searches) - Preinstalled with Norton - Bulky Charging cable - Average build quality on the bottom shell - Trackpad can be hard to see at night with default keyboard backlighting.

Additional Comments

I bought this computer for university looking for a quality computer that could handle rendering and gaming as a pastime, and this fits the bill perfectly. High quality keyboard, quiet fans that won't interrupt or annoy students in class, and can handle modern games and rendering projects. On top of that, it's lightweight and portable and has a decent battery life. My only issue thus far is encountering an error with Norton blocking Windows Update, but it only took me a few minutes to uninstall Norton and fix Windows Update. The price for this quality of computer simply can't be beat.

Service was great. Product was not.

Strengths of the product

Specs are really nice. You get a full GTX 1060, not a Max-Q version. Design is cool. Everything about it is terrific, when it works.

Weaknesses of the product

First time I got the laptop, it started shutting down periodically when I exited games. Games that would also be fairly easy to run on a GTX 1060 - Dota 2, CS:GO, LOL- started getting massive frame drops on all settings (Highest to Lowest). Facebook and also pushed the computer to 80 Degrees Celsius at times. Clearly something was wrong with the computer. After the initial exchange, all those issues disappeared; however, both USB Ports on the right side of the computer did not work. Did not check the rest of the computer because I was extremely frustrated with the product. It doesn't matter if I spend $200 or $2000 on a laptop. I expect it to be working right out of the box. Staff was more than helpful, and I'm very grateful for the service at memory express.

Additional Comments

tl;dr Bought computer, it was faulty. Exchanged for the same model. Faulty again. One more try tomorrow, then I quit. Thank goodness for the amazing staff.

Strengths of the product

Additional GB's on the Graphics Card makes a difference Great to have a SSD

Weaknesses of the product

Lack of optical drive Case feels weaker than previous MSI's I've owned or been around

Additional Comments

Really quite good. Blazing fast, good performance on Adobe Creative Suite. You could spend more on a workstation, or do much better with something like this. Not having an optical drive isn't a deal breaker, but unexpected.

Great Gaming Laptop for the price

Strengths of the product

Picked up the GP63 MSI laptop last Thursday and love it, The newest 8th gen Core i7 8750H processor is great for games. CPU intensive games like Cities Skylines runs absolutely fantasic. Pair it with the 1060 video card, you will have no problems running this game at very high settings. The Nvidia geforce 1060 is a fanatic choice for gaming. Even high graphic games, like the Witcher 3, you can easily run it at high/ultra mix settings. Steel Series keyboard feels great. Great HDD performance.

Weaknesses of the product

It is a 60hz FHD matte screen. It is not a 120hz screen. However, games looks great on it and if you are in a dark area in the game, it panel can get pretty dark (hard to see), which I was pleasantly surprised as usually the blacks may not look good on these panels. Colors in games looks very good but not as good as the IPS panels. Not a big fan of the touchpad but never was. User preference though. Recommend a good gaming mouse for gaming.

Additional Comments

Fantastic gaming machine for the price. Build quality is great and the system doesn't get too hot during gaming. I am actually surprised how well games look on the screen. But don't expect IPS level colors or blacks. If you are on a budget, you can't go wrong with this gaming notebook.
