cell failures instead of full drive failure so at least you can get some of your remaining files off when it dies.
We have had an underwhelming experience with several of these drives. All were noticeably slower than equivalent class competitive SSD's and began exhibiting cumulative file and volume corruption issues out of the gate and continually over time until they were all unusable.
These drives seem to be designed to prevent total storage grid failure (where ALL your data is instantly unreadable on cell failure like with many competitive products) at the expense of performance. Unfortunately individual cell reliability is poor so instead of an instant death you get a slow one AND are stuck with marginal performance the entire time.
