Unstoppable

Strengths of the product

In my parents house we have few thick walls. There are stone walls, wooden beams and aluminium roof. I've tried another type of router and this one really suit my needs.

Weaknesses of the product

The speed could be better when you are connected. This is good when the extender is plugged to the computer otherwise you are getting wifi.

Additional Comments

Anywhere in the house you get the wifi. You can benefit of the extender for the cable. You can have a computer constantly plugged in. So, you can have few devices connected and be sure that you have acces to your connection. The cable is still stronger, but the wifi is amazing. Plus looks nice!

Slick and easy to use, but lacks advanced features and has connection issues.

Strengths of the product

Amazing coverage area, and the extender can have a wired backhaul. The web UI is slick and simple, great for a "set it and forget it" user. The Android app worked great as well, though ratings on the Play store are mixed.

Weaknesses of the product

The router would randomly disconnect from my modem and I'd be unable to reconnect without rebooting the router. Sometimes it'd stay connected from 6 hours, other times for only 15 minutes. There were few advanced features, and the ones available seemed handicapped compared to other routers. Having to install a Syslog server on my machine to view logs is ridiculous. Leaves power users thirsty for more.

Additional Comments

After unable to resolve the WAN connection issue with D-Link support, I returned it and bought an Asus RT-AC86U. It's only a single router, but leaves no dead zones in my house and has many more advanced features.

Disappointing

Strengths of the product

Good wide area coverage

Weaknesses of the product

The router spontaneously rebooted every hour resulting in a loss of connectivity for approximately 2 minutes. This unit is not able to provide MAC address filtering, a must as it was set up in a small office surrounded by other offices and retail. The administration UI provided the option to configure system logging but did not provide a facility to actually view said syslogs.

Additional Comments

This feels like an un-finished product - as in development said it wasn't finished yet but management said ship it anyways.
