The USB cable is too short

I've used it for a few months and it has worked very well. I only use it for backup, and I only plug it in when I need it, so I really like the fact that it is powered by the USB port. It's a bit too large to carry in your shirt pocket, but I keep it in a case anyway.
I read a review of one of these drives which said it has a proprietary USB cable. It's not, it's a standard cable used on many USB 3 external drives.
