A Dud

Strengths:

Easy to set up

Weaknesses:

Doesn't work (kind of essential)! The signals received on the 5 Ghz channels of this range extender were consistently less than I received directly from the router! Using Speedtest on a new Dell laptop with i-7 Intel processor, iPhone 6, and iPad, all on ac wi-fi, I consistently obtained only 50-85% of the signal that was received directly from the router. So...why buy this? Maybe as a "range reducer"?

Additional Comments:

This is a waste of $105, and I will be returning it. I purchased to try to improve a weak signal in my living area. I am using an Asus RT-AC66U router (AC) located on the main floor. Signals are good on two floors directly above the router (100+ Mbps down and 25+ Mbps up), but drop on the second floor at a horizontal distance from the router. However, the "extender" cut the signal strength even more---like by 60% directly above the router, and 25% at a distance.
