Works ok, if you don't apply updates

Strengths of the product

* 3 radios - so in theory can spread out Wi-Fi clients. * Fairly fast

Weaknesses of the product

* Firmware updates ruin functionality. (See previous review. I spent an entire day recently trying everything I could to get it to work with updates and could not. This is what I have done for 25+ years and still do. However, when put back to original firmware, works properly again.) * Doesn't give good speeds compared to other models when farther away. Diagnostic apps said it wasn't offering 802.11ac! * The aforementioned problems (other review) are why it disconnects. On original firmware, ok.

Additional Comments

While the hardware has promise, due to the firmware and other issues I have seen, I would recommend choosing other models of router. I later bought the wrt3200acm and love it.

Has Issues

Strengths of the product

Setup is easy. Management is easy through browser. Good transfer rate over WiFi 5GHz if signal strong (typical of any WiFi unit).

Weaknesses of the product

Third radio (second 5GHz) has such low power that my phone has to be single digit centimetres away to see it. With the default high performance settings (beam steering and smart select), my phone keeps disconnecting from WiFi. Turn it off and use the one channel and all is fine. This makes it a dual radio dual band router though, so I could have saved money. It refuses to use the channel settings I set and so sits on top of other routers in the building that I tried avoiding.

Additional Comments

Nice looks and a good name don't translate into functional, reliable gear.

Strengths of the product

Nice number of antennas Good form factor

Weaknesses of the product

Drops connections Costly

Additional Comments

Bought this router in the summer of 2015 and forgot I had it. Installed spring of 2016. Easy to install and configure through the Linksys app. Trouble is it continually drops connections. I look at my phone and see connection and no internet connection exclamation mark showing. Reconnect and it works for a while. horrible performance for a costly router. Now shopping for a new router.
