Works well so far

Strengths of the product

Plug in and go. No muss, no fuss. 1080 full colour/frame rate from HDMI to Component. No sync issues with video and audio

Weaknesses of the product

Ideally it would extract the digital audio from HDMI and give you output options of digital 5.1 SPDIF or analog 2Ch RCA. As it is, it's 2Ch analog only via the converter.

Additional Comments

I used this to connect the video of a HTPC directly to a an older component-only receiver connected to a 1080p LCD TV (a Sharp Aquos LC52D82U with dead HDMI ports due to a board failure). The HTPC has an HDMI video card, so it was simply a matter of going video card-to-converter-to-receiver and using the SPDIF output on the HTPC to get audio to the receiver in 5.1 digital.

Did not work for my Apple TV

Strengths of the product

Weaknesses of the product

This converter did not work for my Apple TV. From what I have read, I believe it is due to the Apple TV not getting the EDID info from the TV. The picture comes through, but slowly flashes off and on. None of the settings in the Apple TV seemed to change this.
