Don't buy these (64 GB) unless they're on sale.
Handy for use as a boot device with Clonezilla. But slow, slow, slow when writing to. An NTFS format of the entire drive required almost 1 hour. Buy them when they're on sale, but at regular price, meh. Ok for quickie or temporary data backups but I would look at an external hard drive for backups where you expect integrity and reliability.

USB 3 (Not in speed, but in multitasking capability) It has the extra pins for USB 3 capability, which means if you copy a 20gb file to your usb, then realize you still want to copy some other stuff to the drive while the first copy is going on, you can do so, without bottlenecking the first file copy. Try running 2 or 3 simultaneous file copies to an actual USB 2 drive, a 5 minute copy job will take an hour. Design is decent for being made primarily of plastic
As fast as a below average USB 2 drive from 2010 (15 - 20 MBps write is all you'll really get) Read is average, at 30 MBps
All in all, the write speed is 5 - 7 years in the past. I know many people will claim "ITS NOT USB 3" you're only thinking in terms of speed. Speed isn't everything. The ability to read and write simultaneously is also an improvement in USB 3. For the price, especially sale price, I would recommend this drive. I filled it with music and use it in my car, its operated fine from +40 to -40. I purchased it knowing it wouldn't be fast, but I copy to it 1% of the time, and read from it 99% of the

Speed, capacity, price
I'm not sure why most of the reviews are bad. I've had mine for a year and have not had any issues what so ever. Also, if you're dissatisfied, contact Kingston, these things do have a 5 year warranty I believe.

Completely died after a 6 months with no recovery available
Worked great for several months and then completely died after a 6 months with no recovery available. So okay for downloaded shows and such but not for anything important.
