Huge improvement over MB input.

Strengths of the product

As a PC user who's only ever used the motherboard sound inputs for speakers for over 10 years -- this was an enormous improvement. I listen to a lot of music and game quite a bit and the level of sound quality in games was immediately apparent and made my games FAR more enjoyable. I would highly recommend a decent pair of headphones too if you don't already play that way. I've yet to try the "scout mode" option for games like BF4 but that sounds quite fun & useful.

Weaknesses of the product

I was encountering some software glitches in Windows 7 (64bit) with the program freezing when changing from headphone to speaker mode (or vise versa) -- which required a reboot to fix. I've been on Windows 10 now though since it's public release and haven't had any problems. Not that this is a weakness per se, but the card itself has a VERY bright red LED built into it -- for me it was great because my tower is now split half bright blue and half bright red, which I like.

Additional Comments

Would recommend this to anyone asking about sound cards, especially if they haven't ever used one before.

Strengths of the product

None

Weaknesses of the product

Poor quality sound. Overpriced

Additional Comments

I am a very heavy music listener. I was expecting from some time from Creative to come up with something that is better than their XFi series and I thought Zx is the one. Apparently I was wrong. I bought this as an "upgrade" to my SB XFi Titanium HD, but the sound quality is much worse. Sounds worse than any on-board sound card. No dynamics , frequency response is really flat, you have to use soft equalizer to bring it somewhat close to the real sound. I am returning to my old sound card.

Great all around audio upgrade!

Strengths of the product

- Great sound quality. Noticeably superior power and audio over on-board sound or lesser cards. - Effective surround processing with headphone use...allows you to easily localize sounds around you. - Strong headphone amp - Handy desktop control module - Good inputs with dedicated rear headphone jack + front panel connector. - Very effective "crystal voice" options for eliminating mic noise and echo. (Lots of mic feedback/interference without these enabled

Weaknesses of the product

- No mute control for the built-in mic on the control module. - Software could use a few more options like a quicker headphone/speaker shortcut, auto profile switching between headphones/speakers, etc. - Bright red lighting from the card that is very noticeable with a windowed case.

Additional Comments

If the feature set matches what you're after then this is a pretty solid recommendation.

Strengths of the product

*Slick control panel! Very intuitive and easy to use. *Card looks fantastic! *Adequately powers a HD800 with its onboard amp. *Very convenient and good microphone on the external module *External module's volume control knob is the smooth turning knob I've ever laid my hands on.

Weaknesses of the product

*Lots of red light leak from the top and end of the card. *Compared to the SB-Fatality, the "SBX Pro Studio" 's new Surround feature does not adequately expand the sound towards the rear channels like the Fatility. The listening experience is focused on the center and front channels, the rear channels sparsely filled.

Additional Comments

Very high quality audio and capable amp from a reasonably priced sound card. New drivers are a lot easier to use than before.
