Strengths of the product

Worked nicely for a while.

Weaknesses of the product

Expensive piece of crap, died after 3 years. The laptop does not see the mouse or portable HDD connected to the hub. AmazonBasics will be next.

Additional Comments

Used it to multiplex a printer in mouse into the same port. Portable HDD worked fine as well

Never got this to work

Strengths of the product

Can't say as I've never gotten it to work.

Weaknesses of the product

Won't power up

Additional Comments

I bought this a few years ago and to be honest, it worked for about 5 minutes. My wife had thrown the receipt out so I couldn't return it. I just came across it in a box today and figured I'll try again. The lights flashed a few times, and now nothing. Its completely dead. I went looking through my stuff for an old no name 7 port usb hub I knew I had somewhere and it still works like a charm. I'll be throwing this -Link one in the garbage.

Official Reply from Memory Express:

We reached out to D-Link for Nathan, and they will swap this defective unit out for a new one. They would like Nathan to contact them at http://support.dlink.ca/ for details.

FYI: Nathan, at Memory Express you do not need your receipt to return products, unlike some of our competitors. We have all recent transactions in our Store Computers, so returns do not require receipts.

Clinton and the non-compatible discussion - False

Strengths of the product

This product works fine on Windows 10, it's clearly listed right on the D-Link site to support W8+/W10 and it works.

Weaknesses of the product

None, it's a basic USB hub.

Additional Comments

Once again, a review where someone has a local computer issue probably with USB chipset incompatibility and they blame the hardware.

Official Reply from Memory Express:

John is correct in his backing of this USB Hub being Windows® 8 & 10 compatible.

As part of his review, John also provided a link to D-Link's site. Unfortunately, we so not allow external links in these reviews (for a few reasons), even though his link did point to the D-Link site.

We thank him for his positive review...

Doesn't work with Windows 8+ or Macs

Strengths of the product

None

Weaknesses of the product

Doesn't work with any modern platform including Windows 8+ and Mac OS X. Neither worked. It's not a defective device, it's reported online as simply not being compatible (including the Windows 10 compatibility site). The product is also unsupported by D-Link. Absolutely no warranty or support will be provided by D-Link. You can verify this online as well (including D-Link's own site). This product should not be sold any longer, or at the very least there should be a clear warning from Memex.

Additional Comments

Good for the price

Strengths of the product

7 ports Ability to use only usb power or plug it in to the wall

Weaknesses of the product

Fast charge is not functional while connected to a PC

Additional Comments

7 ports is sure nice to have. I used some velcro to stick it to my table. Like the other Josh said, fast charge is not clear. I thought something was up when it took over 4 hours to charge my Nexus 7, and it was. While connected to a PC, all ports put out .5 amps, fast charge ups the two ports to 1.5 amps, which is the same as most cellphone/tablet wall chargers, so it isn't really any faster than those.

Good for charging iDevices, not for Android tablets

Strengths of the product

- Compact - Tacky rubber feet help it stay put - Basic USB hub features work fine

Weaknesses of the product

- Fast charging abilities are not straightforward - Does not charge my Galaxy Tab Note 10.1

Additional Comments

The fast charge features require more explanation. First off, in order to activate "fast charge mode" you must unplug the USB cord from the device so it's not connected to your computer anymore. The light then changes color and it delivers more power to the 2 marked ports. If you want to charge your iPad while it's connected to the computer / iTunes, you have to install drivers from D-Link to make that possible. So, if you are hoping to charge your Android tablet, this just charges iPads.
