Great Monitor

Strengths of the product

Color is amazing on this panel. Screen real-estate is a good size. Every time I go from 17" laptop back to this panel it makes me want to just look at pictures and enjoy this monitor!! This is a nice looking panel. Its attractive with a nice looking base.

Weaknesses of the product

Like others have said the speakers in this are terrible. For a work panel i can see the benefit of having them built in but at home...these are useless!!!

Additional Comments

I've had this panel for almost nine months and have been more than happy with it...I've been impressed with it all the way. By far the nicest monitor I've ever used.

Beautiful display.

Strengths of the product

Great picture, excellent colors. Super easy to setup and it's huge!

Weaknesses of the product

The speakers are terrible. I was quite excited seeing they were B&O, but the speakers in my laptop sound better. Perhaps I have been spoiled by the speakers built into the iMacs, but these sound tinny and flat over HDMI.

Additional Comments

Great monitor for the price. If you're looking for something with some kickass sound, keep looking.

Highly Recommended

Strengths of the product

If your looking for Beauty and the Beast, look no further! This thing is Big! in a good way but not bulky. Going from a TN LG to this was like I was living under a rock. The picture is definitely the beauty of it all. Uniquely designed to stand out anywhere amongst other boring monitors. No Dead Pixels out the box. No ghosting for games other than CS That I've seen, but then again I am not super sensitive to ghosting when it's minor and not an elitist.... Buy when it goes on sale for -40.

Weaknesses of the product

Price is a little steep, but the quality and uniqueness is worth it IMO. Makes you want a better video card...>.>

Additional Comments

Highly recommended for casual to mildly hardcore gamers.

Strengths of the product

Great response time and colour brightness. Images appear sharp and detailed. Thin frame design is very good looking with thin bezel. Ips panel has matte finish and no glare.

Weaknesses of the product

First 27" for me so the reduction in resolution is noticable from my last 24". No vesa mounting

Strengths of the product

AH-IPS +-97%+ sRGB Just looks absolutely stunning Doesn't have an ugly, plastic bezel sticking out around the screen Semi-Matte screen Simply love at first sight - Unique and outstanding design No dead pixels out of the box Little to no backlight bleed Extremely compact

Weaknesses of the product

Super sensitive touch buttons for the OSD - Will take time getting used to. Not much of a big deal. No VESA mount? Might be a deal breaker for some that want to put this in nVidia Surround/Eyefinity. Bottom left corner seems a bit darker than the rest when viewing dark shades/blacks.

Additional Comments

Make sure to download the MX279H colour profile off of Asus' website here: https://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/MX279H/#support_Download Right click desktop>Personalize>Advanced settings>Color Management>Add>MX279.icm Trace Free is set to 60 at default. Most reviewers agree that setting it at 20 or 40 will reduce ghosting. I have mine set at 40. Overall, very happy with the purchase. Stunning picture quality. Huge jump in quality going from TN to IPS.
