Does not support installing Windows from USB

Strengths of the product

Speedy USB Flash Drive

Weaknesses of the product

Does not work for installing Windows 7 or higher.

Additional Comments

This Flash Drive does not seem to support installing Windows 7 or higher from it. The Windows Setup will boot and run. At the Drive/Partition selection screen, Windows Setup gives a disk/partition creation error. Manually creating the partition ahead of time does not solve the issue. This is on USB2 and USB3 systems. (Not a USB3.0 Driver issue) We have tested and recommend the Patriot Supersonic Rage XT USB 3.0 Flash Drives for installing Windows from USB. ( MX44199 / MX44202 )

Strengths of the product

Size, cost (bought it on sale), rubber housing and cap are great. It accidentally got put through a wash cycle on a front load machine capped and came out still working without data loss or errors. It just keeps on ticking. Use it for data transfer and storage only.

Weaknesses of the product

None thus far

Additional Comments

Works for straight file transfer

Strengths of the product

Quick

Weaknesses of the product

Cannot be used to install windows

Additional Comments

Had a couple of these, both my friend and I could not get installations of windows to proceed (it just doesn't get recognized correctly) - replacing with a simple kingston flash drive remedied this problem in both cases.

Works well for data transfer... not so much for system restores

Strengths of the product

- Fairly fast transfer over USB 3 - Cheap (got it on sale during the doorcrasher) - Great size

Weaknesses of the product

- Can not install windows 7/8 from USB key

Additional Comments

It's a great simple stick. Good for shuttling movies / photos around, etc. My friend and I both purchased these for the purpose of installing WIn7/8 off of them. We both independently found out it won't do it (throws a 'can't create partition error'). Happened on 2 different computers. Using a Sandisk stick fixed the problem in both cases. Too bad.
