Bang-for-buck ASIO 2.0 card

Strengths:

ASIO 2.0 compliant.
Low-latency
Great sound.
No bloat-ware.
Front panel connector.
Price.

Weaknesses:

Requires power connection to CPU (adaptor supplied).

Additional Comments:

I recently started getting into recording audio on my PC. Started off using my on-board Realtek sound card and the free ASIO4ALL software to get around latency issues, but would get all sorts of pops and hissing during playback. Researched a variety of ASIO compliant cards online before settling on the Xonar DX. Price, performance and the card's front panel connector where the deciding factors in my decision. Would recommend this card whole-heartedly.

Worst sound card I've ever owned.

Strengths:

-low-profile

Weaknesses:

-terrible drivers
-hisses and pops in music and movies
-random freezing and crashes in games
-EAX 5.0 is a joke

Additional Comments:

This was my first time using an asus product and I'm very disappointed with their driver support. Returned this back to Memory Express and I was glad that they allowed me to exchange for an Auzentech Xplosion. So far, I've never had any problems with my new Auzentech. I will never buy Asus again!!!

Ok card

Strengths:

Slim, PCIE interface, sits in bottom slot far away from my big video card on the p5qe motherboard

Weaknesses:

Poorly written drivers, even the ones on the web, poor documentation gave wrong speaker inputs for my creative inspire 5.1 speaker set
Card runs too hot for my liking and adds another heat source to my computer

Additional Comments:

If Asus could write better drivers and more accurate documentation and design a card that runs cooler, then I may thinks about putting this back into my main system
I am not too impressed with this heater oops I mean card

Great card without busting your wallet

Strengths:

PCI-E
Less software to install
7.1 audio
many other features

Additional Comments:

I switched from Creative to Asus after so many years of using Creative products. This is a great card! The sound is crisp! This card doesn't cause my system to crash randomly. This is a great card for the money.

Superb card

Additional Comments:

Sounds like David just bought units from a bad batch. Can happen with any hardware. This card is fantastic. I'm officially sworn-off of Creative now.

Horrible Card

Strengths:

Nice Sound when working
Take up little space in case

Weaknesses:

This is my 4th card, They all blow capacators and are defective.

Additional Comments:

Stay away from ASUS cards, I have used the Xonar DX and DX2 and both have problems, and you would end up seinding it away on RMA.
