Strengths:

Id say its the Ferrari of processors at this time. But just like all cars like them you need to have it setup correct. Once that's done..little tweak here and there. Default bios settings and Precision Boost Overdrive turned on gives clocks all the way to near 6 gigs. .. Its amazing how fast this chip does processing of large files..installing large software or just processing large video files etc, it chews through them in no time. I upgraded from a Intel 10900K and it wasnt bad either. But the 7950x leaves it in the dust with half the time or less working on a given task.

Weaknesses:

None that i can see. Be nice if it was $200 cheaper, but is it worth the gain. You bet it is.

Additional Comments:

Great processor. If youre upgrading your setup this will be about the biggest uplift in performance you will see in a while for sure.

Additional Comments:

This CPU rocks! My benchmarks are on par with others. I'm running the system on stocked settings right now. It typically runs at around 53° C but it will hit over 90° C while benchmarking. I'm very happy with this processor and overall system build. The system is very responsive, speedy, and super stable. I've had responsiveness and stability issues in the past with first gen Ryzen and older AMD systems. They've come a long way since then as this system run so smoothly that I really have nothing to complain about. FYI, you do have to purchase a third party air cooler though as it doesn't come with one. I went with the Noctua DH-15. However, it'll be difficult to fit the second fan as most motherboards have the RAM sockets on the right of the CPU sockets so you'll find it difficult to fit the second cooler fan above the memory slots. Right now, I'm just running on the single fan so effectively, I'm running on the Noctua DH-15S model. - AMD Ryzen 9 7950x CPU with Noctua DH-15 air cooler - Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX motherboard - 32 GB of Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 (CL36) - 2x WD Black SN850 m.2 Gen 4 SSDs I give this CPU a 5/5.
