Strengths:
Great value for performance.
Outperforms more expensive Intel and Zen4 solutions.
Weaknesses:
The final CPU released for the AM4 platform. No upgrades from here.
Additional Comments:
I waited until Zen4 launch to grab one of these, the value proposition for the Ryzen 7600X and especially AM5 motherboards was almost non-existent so it sent me back to the AM4.
With b550 boards and now GPU's entering their lowest prices both retail and used this is easily the best bang for your buck option for a CPU for gaming and also remaining competitive in productivity workloads.
If you can wait for the Zen4 X3D chips then maybe wait, but until then you can't get much better than the 5800X3D.
I purchased this CPU on Sale; look around for for the best price.

Strengths:
This CPU comfortably challenges any GPU and pushed my frame stability into wonderland. I don't play for high FPS, I play for solid 144Hz performance, and this CPU paired very, very well with both an RTX 3080 Ti, an RTX 3080 and *very* well with an RX 6600. This CPU will make your GPU sing.
Weaknesses:
The IPC per core is not as snappy as modern Intel. I replaced an i5-11600K with this, and while it pushes more frames, the desktop snappiness is just not quite as nice as I was experiencing with the Intel.
Additional Comments:
Expensive, but a very good way to get into Ryzen late in the Zen3 Generation. Pairs well with DDR4 and if you're in the market to build something that will game for YEARS, this is the CPU I recommend if you've got the scratch.
