Pretty Solid

Strengths:

Picked this up to replace my 27' 1440p monitor and its pretty damn good I find.

Additional Comments:

Colours looked great out of the box, I have a 3080 so games run pretty good for the most part. Definitely happy. Bought this on sale and will consider another when it goes on sale.

If you have the space, buy the M32U

Strengths:

Good picture quality, fast response, pretty accurate colours brightness, very low input lag. It's a great gaming monitor. Works with both g-sync and free-sync.

Weaknesses:

Nothing "special" about it. Speakers are pitiful. The first two monitors of this model that Memory Express unboxed to check for shipping damage, were USED and re-packed by Gigabyte as new. The first had severe scratches around the inputs and back plastic, much like a 10-year old home audio receiver owned by a careless idiot gets. The second one also had scratches around the input section from someone clumsily trying to install the HDMI cable. Third monitor looked to be perfect so I brought it home. But that's a major shady deal with Gigabyte, sending out obviously open-box most likely refurbished models and trying to pawn them off as brand new, even tricking retailers into selling used products.

Additional Comments:

FIrst of all, do not buy this unless you have a 6800 XT or better AMD or 3080 Ti or better Nvidia gpu. You will not get 144 FPS in 4K at maximum lush graphic settings without one, so don't bother. I had actually purchased the 32" version of this and was very impressed. It had very good brightness and build quality, super fast and smooth refresh rates with my 3080 Ti. I just didn't find the size all that great for my desk after a week or so of testing. The built in speakers were never a selling point for me but they were decent enough on the 32" model that I enjoyed just having them to use for casual media use like streaming youtube, so I'm not strapped to headphones. Eventually I returned it because the size was slightly distracting, like an ultrawide is, where you're moving your head or eyes too much to catch things that aren't directly in your peripheral vision in FPS gaming. So I grabbed this one, because all reports were that it's the same monitor but smaller version. Well, it's not. It's not as bright, it doesn't seem to have as good of colour reproduction at standard stock settings, and the speakers must be 1/2 the size because they sound like tin and the volume barely gets loud enough to hear from outside the doors of my office if I walk away. I'm waiting to receive an order from another retailer for the Asus PG279QM Swift 240 Hz 1440P monitor to do some direct comparison, as I found an open box one for about the same price as this... but overall I'm not impressed with this one so far. 4K 144Hz is only impressive if the image quality and colour can keep up with the claims. I have updated to the latest firmware (currently version 7). This is a critical thing you have to do as soon as you get these Gigabyte monitors. It's very easy. Just google the model and firmware and you'll find it. Takes about 10 minutes from Google to completion. So, so far, after the shocking truth of Gigabyte shipping out used / refurbished monitors and not disclosing that, plus the underwhelming initial impressions of this one, I can only give 3 stars for this average display. I give the 32" M32U 5 stars, as it was much more impressive. Maybe I'll just return to get it again and get used to the size, as it's incredible for the price, especially compared to the 27" 4K 144hz options out there for 30% more money, for the same specs but smaller size.
