Strengths:
Fast
Weaknesses:
Bad blocks start appearing after 16 months
Additional Comments:
Noticed bad blocks while making a full system backup. Ran Samsung Magician and found unrecoverable block(s). Updated firmware as recommended, but bad block(s) is still there. Extended SMART diagnostic simply failed. CrystalDiskInfo SMART reports errors. Total written data is less than 6TB.
It is still working, don't know how long it will last. Not sure that this case is covered by IPR

Strengths:
Speedy, reliable, very stable.
My MSI motherboard's UEFI saw the NVME immediately.
Weaknesses:
It is a solid state storage device as such when it fails that's it. It's all over. Unlike spinning hard drives I have never been to recover data from a failed solid state device with forensic recovery tools. Thus in my view backups have become more critical.
Additional Comments:
I purchased this NVME solid state storage device to replace my now dead Samsung 950 Pro. I purchased the 950 Pro when it was first released (not very cheap back then). It worked great until it was no longer visible to the motherboard's UEFI about a month ago.
Given that the previous model gave me such long stable performance over it's life, I purchased the more expensive Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB over the less expensive alternatives.
Everything has been running well since the replacement and re-installation of the OS for approximately a month now.
System:
MSI MEG X570 Unify
64 GB RAM
Ryzen 9 5900X (24 threads)
Linux 6.1.3 kernel
I would recommend this NVME to anyone who wants a stable, fast performing storage device.
I run Steam and game reliably with my Linux setup.
If someone is having issues with this device maybe the one they have is defective or their system's UEFI/BIOS needs to be updated/flashed/configured or just maybe the UEFI/motherboard is of very poor quality (some really bad UEFI configurations do exist lacking important setup options) or some kind of hardware issue has occurred with their system. Previously my MSI motherboard's UEFI/BIOS had some updates to utilize certain NVMEs better. Lots of variables exist in the hardware world.
As a general rule of thumb: One should always check the hardware compatibility guide before purchasing anything for their system. Some hardware mixes just do not work well together. The compatibility guides will help prevent costly mistakes that cause your system not to perform at it's best.

Strengths:
Excellent transfer rate which was required for my Star Citizen game and also helps with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
Additional Comments:
Installed this SSD about 6 months ago and my PC is on almost 24 hours a day. Never had overheating issues on an air cooled system. This is by far the best SSD I've ever purchased. You pay a bit more but it's definitely worth it. Will be picking a 980 PRO 2TB this week as my games need more space. A must for any gamer.
