Strengths:
- Easy to install disks
- Simple enough for a novice to setup
- It does work as a NAS
Weaknesses:
- Constant upgrades
- Will need to be turned off and on more than any NAS really should
- lack of useful features for photo vaults, as in it cant even read a mp4 file and needs a application to do it
Additional Comments:
Tried to upgrade its ram, 3 of the 5 screws were rounded off and unable to get off. not built very well but i mean hey, it does work as a NAS so cant really complain about it.

Weaknesses:
Don't buy products from Qnap. They are insecure and the company is terrible at providing security patches. See info below.

Additional Comments:
Two critical vulnerabilities in QNAP TS-231’s latest firmware (version 4.3.6.1446 – 2020/09/29)

Strengths:
Can use any size of drive
Weaknesses:
Constant firmware updates, security weaknesses. Data loose.
Additional Comments:
Bought this unit to replace my old D-link NAS. It has been an ongoing labour of updates and losing the link to the unit. I would not recommend this item at all!
