Beware of armoury crate

Submitted on Monday, July 06, 2020

From Calgary

Strengths of the product

Lots of IO connectors and nice RGB affects.Aura integrates with Corsairs iCue software (just not with addressable RGB headers on the board sadly).

Weaknesses of the product

Software. I wasted most of an afternoon trying to get this work and needed to re-install windows. Come on Asus! You can do better.

Additional Comments

!Beware of armoury crate! Disable in UEFI BIOS before booting (under the tools menu)! By default the motherboard installs this app on Windows 10 EVERY time the system boots. It can't be un-installed (it has an un-installer, but it doesn't work). From my own experience and after reading many forums it can only be removed by re-installing windows. It also has it's own version of Asus Aura built-in and prevents you from running the stand alone Aura Sync app. It will leave about 1/2 dozen Asus apps running in the background and has a history of bugs. It's supposed to install all your drivers but that didn't work in my case as there is a bug which caused it to hang. Last year Asus got hacked and the updates were injecting a trojan virus. Reading the forums it forces updates which has broken many users builds. My advise, just install Aura Sync, and genuine intel drivers manually (which is about all this app does).
