Backorders

Due to global shortages, we are experiencing longer normal fulfillment times for out of stock and special order products. In addition, unprecedented demand for new products such as the GeForce RTX 3000 Series and Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards has created a large number of backorders in our system. We are no longer accepting backorders for out of stock items - see below for more information on our new Product Reservation Request form.

Additionally, our suppliers have not been able to provide accurate ETA's for out of stock items.
Inter-store transfers have also been suspended until further notice.

 

Product Reservation Request Form

Due to the uncertainty regarding fulfillment times for new and out of stock products on our website and the system limitation of requiring full payment for online backorders, we have disabled backorders on our website for all products until further notice.

In its place, we are introducing our new Product Reservation Request Form

This new form will allow you to reserve products on our website without any deposit payment.
It also let you reserve a product for pick-up for one of our retail locations without calling or visiting the store.

Reservations will be filled in the order they are submitted; existing instore and online backorders will be filled first. Please do not submit a product reservation request if you already have a backorder in place with us.

Please note that while you can submit reservations for multiple products, we will only be filling one reservation per product category, per customer (i.e. 1 graphics card, 1 processor). Once your reservation is filled we will cancel all remaining reservations for products in the same category. This will also apply to existing backorders placed on memoryexpress.com or at one of our retail locations.

You will be contacted when the product your reservation request is filled and ready for pick or ship out. We are only able to hold reservations for 48 hours; the product must be picked up or the transaction completed (online order) within 48 hours. If the product is not picked up or the transaction completed within 48 hours, your reservation will be canceled and the product will be released to the next customer on the list.

We cannot guarantee pricing for reservation requests. Pricing will be confirmed when your reservation request is filled. For online orders, shipping fees may also apply.

ETA's

Most of our suppliers have not been able to provide any accurate information on new shipments. We have "open" backorders in place at all suppliers for high demand products and they are instructed to ship whenever inventory is available. This means we will receive shipments with little or no advance notice and in most cases, we will not know how many products we will be receiving until it has actually arrived at our stores. This has made it very difficult for our purchasers to provide any accurate information with regards to ETA's.

How backorders are filled

Based on how our backorders are filled from our suppliers, we allocate inventory as follows:

  1. Centrally distributed: Orders are shipped to a central location from our supplier and redistributed by our purchasers to all of our locations based on the time the order was place, and the number of orders at each location.
  2. Supplier dropships: Orders are shipped directly to our stores from our suppliers. With these shipments, we have less control over which store receives inventory, and when they receive it as these shipments shipped to our stores without advance notice. For products on these shipments, each store will be filling their backorders on a per store basis, based on the order they were placed at their respective location.
  3. System Builds: A small percentage of orders are reserved for system builds. Generally, these are used to fulfill agreements with our brand partners and for seasonal promotions.

It is important to note that most of our suppliers are not limited to a single method of fulfilment; i.e. we may receive a large shipment of Asus graphics cards to be redistributed to all stores one day, while the next day some of our stores may receive small shipments of the same card directly from one of the suppliers.

Our purchasing team is working hard every day to fill backorders as fast as possible and they have also instructed our suppliers to ship out orders whenever there is inventory available. There may be scenarios where some customers at certain locations may have their backorder filled before other customers who placed their order earlier at another location.

Order Queue

Due to system limitations, we do not have information such as your place on the backorder queue readily available. Some stores may maintain their own lists but currently, that information is not centrally available this time. We are working on ways to make that information more readily available in the future.
