The COOLPIX P5100 is the new flagship model in the Nikon COOLPIX line-up designed to satisfy photo and camera enthusiasts alike. Built on Nikon's innovative EXPEED™ digital image processing system and incorporating the precision optics of a NIKKOR lens, the COOLPIX P5100 delivers optimum performance and superior image quality.
The COOLPIX P5100 begins with 12.1 megapixels of sharp resolution and a new digital image processing engine that reproduce the finest details and subtle tones with precision and clarity even when taking advantage of advanced sensitivity settings as high as ISO3200*. It also includes the compositional freedom of the 3.5x Zoom-NIKKOR lens and compatibility with converter lens options that further extend wide-angle and telephoto reach.
The controls on COOLPIX P5100 are designed to simplify and streamline camera operation. In addition to a variety of automated and scene modes, four advanced exposure modes – easily accessible from the Mode dial – offer learning and advanced photographers greater personal control over the camera.
Optical lens shift Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization technology counteracts the effects of camera shake in lower light conditions or when shooting unsteady subjects to achieve sharper results. Active full-time, this function also stabilizes images displayed on the 2.5-inch high-resolution LCD monitor with wide 170-degree viewing angle for easier framing and more reassured shooting.
As with any photographic tool, the COOLPIX P5100 really begins with a quality-crafted body that feels familiar in the hand. Made of solid magnesium alloy (Mg), the body features a quality finish, comfortable grip covered in grid-pattern rubber as well as an optical viewfinder to aid composition, particularly in brightly lit conditions. The built-in accessory shoe adds support for Nikon Speedlights and advanced i-TTL flash control.

Nikon Image Innovations - add a touch of genius to your photography
Face-priority AF† automatically detects and focuses on human faces in the frame, while In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically overcomes the red-eye effect sometimes caused by flash photography. Nikon’s D-Lighting can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by creating a copy of the image and adding light and detail where necessary, while leaving properly exposed areas alone.
