INFINITI: the world's first DX10-ready desktop PSU series
DirectX® 10 graphics and Windows™ Vista® will utilize the newest generation of multi-core systems to the maximum. The PCI Express 2.0 standard will be released shortly and introduces a new PEG power connector with 8 pins instead of 6 pins to meet possible power requirements of up to 300W per such card. These might even require 2 connectors, either one 6p and 8p each or two 6p.
Enthusiasts and graphic designers will be able to use up to two cards, and may even combine them with an additional card for physical computing for unseen graphical performance.
This new era of performance and combination possibilities also challenges PSU manufacturers to a new level of rail design to guarantee the versatility, since not everybody uses up to 3 of these cards neither combines cards of same power level only. This new situation of 19 possible combinations of graphics is the biggest challenge in the history of power!
Each 12V rail is capable of providing up to 28 resp. 30A, enabling the usage of DX10 class components by powering one graphic card besides one major component like motherboard, CPU or drives each. This results in a very balanced system with either one, two or three GPU's connected.
