- Strengths:
- -Functional design
-Metal casing (nice for heat dissipation, RF interference, impacts)
-Front-facing LEDs & Ports - cause it's nice to see what's happening with each cable
-Small physical size
-Doesn't look like some stupid weird box of magical garbage
- Weaknesses:
- -Would be nice to be a little less pricy, cause the really cheap ones are now a fair bit less
- Summary:
- I really like these switches. I've run on one for a few months now. It's very small, functional and efficient.
BTW - When you see network devices that boast all about using less power, consider how much power they use overall.. Saving 70% power consumption when I was using a few Watts doesn't mean jack to my power bill, when there are 1500W hair dryers about.
So good yet so terrible...

- Strengths:
- NetGear makes good equipment. Not top of the range but more then adequate for daily home use. I have owned a few switches of theirs in the past and have never ever had any issues.
- Weaknesses:
- NetGear has the worst support period. I have never encountered service this poor in my lifetime. I know that doesn't mean much to some but when you do actually have an issue it is important to have good customer service. My issue is actually with their mail in rebate; they sent a visa debit card in American funds ($15). Support for that card is almost none existent.
- Summary:
- Great products that are reliable but their support is so bad I am boycotting NetGear. If a company is offering a mail in rebate it should constitute a check or at least said amount off the next NetGear purchase (no expiry). Not a debit card that can actually end up costing you through fees! Not nice NetGear. 5 stars for the product, but service was to bad I remove 2.
Excellent

- Excellent little 8 port gigabit switch. I have 2 and I love them. Fast, robust just great!
2x 8 port is cheaper (if on sale) then 1x 16 port switch ...
- Weaknesses:
- Summary:
- A must for a small home or SOHO or small business network!
Good value for the money

- Strengths:
- Two 8-port models are cheaper than the 16-port model they replaced. Full gigabit speeds. Operates properly in relatively high ambient temperatures during the summer with no cooling, where commercial grade 'gigabit' routers simply gave up. Quiet. Low profile. Front jacks make patching easy. Metal case helps dissipate heat. Cheap enough to buy a third unit as a backup. Lifetime warranty!
- Weaknesses:
- Previous 16-port model lasted maybe 3 years under these conditions - was hoping for more, but can't really complain as every other unit failed to operate at all under the same conditions. Runs hot - fanless, but having good ventilation (even maybe some forced-air cooling) around the unit is essential.
- Summary:
- Better value for the money than the 16-port version, especially when on sale. Worth giving up 2 ports to daisy chain, and cheap enough that buying backup units makes sense. Can't really ask for more.
Would have liked a fan option, but Netgear obviously intended this unit to be fanless, and it is built accordingly and works. It just runs hotter than I would prefer.
Excellent Product
