Strengths:
- Easy to install
- Easy to use
- Drives do not over heat
- Durable
Weaknesses:
- Vibrates alot
- Gets hot
Summary:
I use two of these, one as a permanent drive and one to check drives I find (I have a lot) and I have never had it break down or have any issues (until I lost one power supply) the vibration on my desk and heat of the unit takes a bit to get used to.

Re: does not work with Vista, it works fine on all my OS's OpenBSD, Slackware Linux, Windows XP, Windows Vista Ult and Pro

Suitable for back-ups

Easy to install, although HD does fit a little tight, you likely want that to avoid vibrations at speed.
Weaknesses:
Seems to run hot
Summary:
I installed a 300Gb 5400rpm HDD I rescued from a messed up NAS inside this enclosure.

I now use it as a Time Machine back-up volume with a Mac connected via a Belkin powered USB hub. Seems to run fine with multi GB back-ups. That said the time the back-up takes doesn't impact my work much, so I haven't been keeping my eye on the throughput.

I'm a little worried about the heat it produces, but for 12mths use it seems OK so far.

Poor performance..or no performance

Does not work with Vista. The case fits very poorly. Makes a hell of racket. Taking it back today.

Nice looking.
Weaknesses:
Poor fitting into external enclosure. If you make changes you risk damaging the IDE cable and the power wires. I bought the first one and had to change it right away as it didn;t work. Memory X was good about it. The second one didn;t get much use over a 2 year period maybe 8 back-ups and all of a sudden the unit wasn;t recognized by the computer(s) I tried it on a few. Hard drive is fine as I installed it in a PC. USB cables were also fine and I tried different ones to see if that was the prob.
Summary:
Based on my experience, design is faulty and not a reliable unit. Really disappointed for a fairly simple piece of equipment.

Does the job and awesome it does!

Strengths:
Tall, sturdy, also flat. :) . Light works well, Simple to plug, mobile for my laptop. Brought my old harddrives from my 2004 gateway back to life for storage purposes. Transfer is fast. (For ata + usb combo, not bad! ). Colour is decent.
Weaknesses:
It didn't come in pink... Hehe

Don't use on a usb hub, (goes super slow) However use with a single usb connnection at back of pc, or any laptop usb power usb plug. Then it'll work fine. :)
Summary:
I likes it so much, i'm getting another today! (for my 2nd hd I have to bring back from the ole gateway from 2004). :)

Thanks mem exp!

Strengths:
Easy to configure
Weaknesses:
Poor performance. Used for 2- 500GB drives on a Imac 2 Ghz Core Duo with the transfer speed around 12 Mbps. Use a Firewire Capable External enclosure. Significantly faster
Summary:
-F stinks ....Go with firewire
