Displaylink Driver Issues

Strengths:

Does what it's supposed to with the default driver install. Have it running a third display (28", 1920 x 1200 resolution) off of my Surface Pro 3 with MS Docking Station. Performance is good but I'm not using it for games or anything requiring high frame rates.

Weaknesses:

When I first plugged it in the DisplayLink Manager software that downloaded and installed, version 7.6.56275.0, worked fine however Windows reported that a newer version, 7.7, was available and should be installed. Installing the latest driver caused the screen to go completely black. Uninstalled the newer version and re-plugged in the adapter and allowed the old version, 7.6 to auto install fixed the issue.

Additional Comments:

Good product if you're looking for a third display. Careful with the Displaylink software upgrade. Checking their forums shows that there are others with the same issue.
