24p Cinema Smoother
Enjoy naturally flowing 24p films and familiar TV-like quality. This function increases the number of frames using Panasonic's advanced source analysis and frame generation to create smoother images. When reproducing images from a 24p film source, VIERA's 24p cinema smoother function renders smooth, natural-looking images that are faithful to the original.

Vivid Colour Creation

The brightness, saturation, contrast and sharpness of colours are carefully compensated in each scene. Highly vivid colours are produced with hardly any mutual interference.

Web Smoother

The image blurring that often occurs when watching video from a website on your Viera Plasma HDTV is corrected to produce natural, smooth motion.

2,500 Focused Field Drive

This original Panasonic technology detects image movements like the human eye, and optimizes the drive accordingly. By achieving instantaneously powerful light emission rather than finely divided emission, it reduces the afterimages that cause blurring. As a result, fast movement is reproduced with excellent clarity.

Viewing Angle

Images remain rich and vivid when viewed from any position in a room. Because plasma TVs are self-illuminating, the images are beautiful when viewed from any angle. Black areas do not fade and colors remain almost identical, regardless of where the viewer is located.

3D Real Sound with Slim Subwoofer and 8 Train Speakers
This newly developed speaker system fills the room with dynamic bass and expansive treble sounds. An original acoustic-field compensation technology also dramatically boosts sound imaging, so your HDTV's dialog sounds like it is coming directly from the people speaking.

Slim Subwoofer
The sub-woofer, which is mounted to the rear surface of the panel, delivers robust bass sounds. Its super slim design, with a thickness of only 11 mm, helps to keep the entire display attractively thin.

8 Train Speakers
Eight dome-type microspeakers with reflectors deliver wide-ranging, high-quality sound. Only about 8 mm thick, these compact units also contribute to the beauty of the narrow-edge design.

Sound Lifting Driver

Original Panasonic acoustic-field compensation technology produces highly accurate sound imaging. Matched to human auditory characteristics, the frequency for the bandwidth in which the sound is located is adjusted and the optimal compensation is applied. Now you will hear all the voices, music and sounds as if they are coming from the directly from the screen.

VIERA Connect

VIERA Connect is an internet service for TVs based on the use of cloud servers. It brings you video-on-demand (VOD), catch-up TV, games, educational content, and lots more, through a wide range of apps. It's a great way to relax in your living room with family and friends.

Cloud-based Internet
Panasonic uses original technology to hold the apps and system data on the server, and to communicate with the TV so they're displayed at high speed. When you power on the TV, the menu screen is immediately retrieved from the server, so you always have quick access to the newest apps and services.

Web Browser

The browser supports HTML5 pages, so you can browse the Internet much like you do with a PC. Unlike a PC, the large screen allows the whole family or a group of friends to comfortably view a wide variety of content.

Media Player

Simply insert an SD memory card or USB memory stick in its respective slot to enjoy previously saved photos, video clips and music on VIERA's large screen. You can also add frames and other effects to your photos and videos, and create slideshows complete with background music. A wide variety of formats are supported, so you can listen to PC-based music files and web movies right on your TV.

Game Mode

A quicker response time improves accuracy and the enjoyment of video games. Game mode minimizes the time delay between the controller and the TV screen. Picture quality is also optimized for use with video game content, particularly for games with dark scenes. Game mode makes all of the game apps on VIERA Connect even more fun to play.

VIERA Tools

The VIERA Tools user interface makes it easy to access and understand key functions. Simply press a function button, and an explanation appears on the screen. Keep the button pressed to activate the function immediately.

Eco Mode

This mode automatically turns the power off and adjusts the brightness depending on VIERA's operating status.

No Signal for 10 Minutes or No Activity for 3 Hours

This setting automatically turns the power off when there's no image signal for 10 minutes or more, or when there's no activity for 3 hours or more.

Power Mode

This setting adjusts screen brightness to reduce power consumption.

Contrast Automatic Tracking System (C.A.T.S.)

This detects the brightness of the room and automatically adjusts screen brightness accordingly. When the room darkens, it lowers the screen brightness and adjusts the image quality for easier viewing while suppressing power consumption.

Mercury and Lead Free Displays

Panasonic is committed to making our products friendlier to the environment. In line with this commitment, all VIERA plasma display panels are free of both lead and mercury. This reduces impact on the environment years down the road when the TV is recycled or retired from use.

Gentle on the eyes

Eye fatigue is suppressed, so both children and adults can watch TV in comfort, even with extended viewing. In a plasma HDTV, each pixel self-illuminates and its brightness is adjusted for every scene. This is why the images are not overly bright.

Long Life Panel

One important way consumers can protect the environment is by choosing high-quality products and taking care of them so they last for a long time. A high-quality VIERA HDTV can help. Thanks to a newly designed phosphor process and rear panel process, our plasma panels last for up to 100,000 hours before the brightness decreases by half. That's more than 30 years of viewing 8 hours a day. This measurement is based on the time taken for the brightness of the panel to reduce to half of its maximum level. The time taken to reach this level may depending on the image content and the environment where the TV is used. Image retention and malfunctions are not taken into account.

Crystal Frame

By softly wrapping the screen in crystal-like transparency, this light and attractive frame reinforces the appearance of floating images.

Enhancing 3D Content

Today, many movie theaters are showing 3D movies, and more than 100 Blu-ray 3D™ titles are available (as of 2011) with categories that include sports and music. Powerful 3D games and TV stations with 3D programming are increasing, expanding 3D content all over the world. Using the 2D-3D Conversion function, it's also easy to enjoy existing 2D content and photo/video collections in 3D.

Active Shutter Progressive 3D Method

Panasonic has achieved high quality 1,080 progressive 3D images to provide truly dynamic 3D immersion. You get even more advanced, powerful Full HD 3D images.

The display alternately shows images for the left and right eyes. The left and right lenses of the eyewear open and close in sync with this display timing to show separate images to the left and right eyes. By repeating this action at high speed, the brain perceives 3D images. And because this method displays Full HD 3D images just as they are, both eyes receive 3D images in high, Full HD quality.

Panasonic "FULL HD 3D" is defined as "Compatible with 1080p 3D signal and native panel resolution of 1920 x 1080p". Depending on models, different 3D signal processing is used.

2D-3D Conversion

Unique Panasonic technology converts 2D images into high quality 3D images in real-time. The image depth is analyzed from the compositional, colour and brightness data of each scene, to convert 2D images into naturally beautiful 3D images. In addition to ordinary TV programs, this method can be used to convert a variety of 2D images — such as web content, Blu-ray Disc™ media, and photos and movies saved onto SD memory cards — into 3D images with a high level of precision.

Fast Switching Phosphor

Reformulating the phosphor materials has minimized afterglow and increased luminous efficiency. This reduces double image and displays clear, detailed 3D images.

Unique Light Emitting Process

A unique light-emission technology reduces double images in dark areas. Conventional light emission, which goes from dark-to-light, was changed to a light-to-dark sequence. This turns maximum emission afterglow into minimum emission afterglow, and dramatically reduces the afterglow duration. Also, by speeding up the timing of each light emission and expanding the interval until the next frame's emission, we greatly reduced the interference to the left and right frames, which causes double images.
