- First slot for PCIe is too close to CPU - with a large CPU heatsink it's VERY close to touching
- Bundled ASUS software is TERRIBLE
- Drivers are buggy
- Way over priced
Summary:
I bought this MOFO a few weeks ago and have had nothing but problems. Everything from the cpu fan spinning too slowly for the built-in rpm monitor to Windows installation hell. And then once Windows IS installed, getting the drivers working is another long process. I *STILL* havent gotten the ATI drivers to play nicely with the Realtek drivers.
none I can see so far; I suspect it's good for those who use Windoze and want to overclock easily, though.
Weaknesses:
I bought it today and am reading the manual. I'm already a bit disappointed: with 3 PCI slots occupied, TWO OF THEM are x8, I believed that a bosrd this expensive would have a multiplexer to allow full x16 access to devices out of any of its slots. It doesn't.. Moreover, with 3 cards installed, it uses 16+8+8 lanes of PCIe, and last time I've checked it's 32, which is below the
CPUs capability of talking on 40 PCIe lines.
Summary:
Disappointment with the whole sector - this is supposedly one of the best X79 mobos available.
