Follow-up review from my initial experience...

Strengths:
The Memory Express techs rectified the, "will not recognize external hard drive" issue and returned the laptop the next day. Great service!
Weaknesses:
The performance is a little underwhelming... It struggles to open 11 megapixel jpeg photos quickly (RAW would be even more frustrating) and it freezes up occasionally playing back video. The power cord has a major design flaw... the connection into the laptop is NOT solid... if you're using the laptop in any place except a flat surface the power cord continuously falls out. It's so bad that when I'm using it in bed I duct tape the cord into the laptop! Bad engineering!
Summary:
All-in-all I'm fairly happy with the unit... as I stated in my first review it's a beautiful piece of engineering and it gets a lot of attention from other travellers, but for the price and specs I'm a little underwhelmed with how it handles photos and video and the power cord connection is an inexcusable engineering blunder. I'm only giving it 3/5 because of the cost... a super high-end unit like this should be a little better...

excellent

Strengths:
It's undeniably a beautiful piece of equipment, even the packaging was stellar. It's a great looking laptop and the perfect size/weight for someone who travels a lot like I do.
Weaknesses:
Granted, I'm an old fart and these new gesture touchpads that do everything are a little beyond me, but the touchpad is overly sensitive and barely breathing on it causes the font size to get huge or tiny in an instant and all other kinds of stuff happens on the screen too. It's irritating as hell. The keyboard is also a little cheap feeling. What the REAL problem is though: It's back in the shop being looked at by the Memory Express Techs. It refuses to recognize any external drive!
Summary:
After lots of time and effort trying to rectify the issue of not recognizing any external drives I finally gave up and took it back to Memory Express today. The tech department says it's an issue with Windows 7 - there's a fault or corruption in the Registry. So for now the unit sucks. Brand new and back in the shop being repaired... we'll see what happens... 5 stars for looks + 1 star for performance = 3 stars at best (for now.)
