Good Screen, High Pricetag

Ben S from Sherwood Park, Alberta writes:
Strengths:
- 27" is spacious for a monitor
- 2D > 3D is neat and better than expected
- 120Hz motion smoothing
- Internet features can be useful
- Bright screen with good colour and contrast
- Form factor is gorgeous from all angles
Weaknesses:
- It's only capable of 1080p. A monitor this size should be driving resolutions more than twice as dense
- Does not have a DVI port
- Does NOT accept true 120Hz input - you want the S27A950D if you are a hardcore gamer
- 3D is incompatible with AMD/NVIDIA 3D solutions and requires its own driver with separately updated game support
- 2D > 3D can be spotty and isn't good for everything
- $759 is a hard pill to swallow
Summary:
I received this monitor from Samsung as an apology for 10 months of warranty hell with a different screen. It's done a good job, but I must admit many of the features you're paying for are features I haven't tested, including all the Internet functions, extensive 3D viewing, and TV. Xbox and HD video looks fantastic, with rich colour and excellent detail. You may prefer the fake 120Hz motion smoothing, but I turned it off. Note: if you need HDMI audio passthrough, use HDMI input 2.
