- Strengths:
- -Blazingly Fast: Boot times are cut by about half, resume after sleeping/hiberation. Programs are also booting quicker
-Running Cooler: Less heat being genreated vs. traditional mechanical drive
-Running Quieter: Significantly less noise vs. traditional mechanical drive
-Firmware: Lastest update fixes previous faults
- Weaknesses:
- -Percieved weakness (reviews here and online elsewhere that talk of failure)
- Summary:
- Bought this drive about a month ago to replace a 500GB-7200 RPM drive in my gaming laptop. I was a bit wary based on all the negative reviews posted, but after I saw that it was in relation to the firmware I decided to purchase one. Using an external connection I made sure it was the lastest firmware update, and then re-flashed it to make sure. Installed Windows 7 and all my programs with no hassel.
So far its been running great. Very happy with my purchase.
Great Drives

- - Some negative reviews
- Summary:
- I have been running these drives Raid 0 for almost a month and have never had a blue screen of death like many reviews claim. The drives came with firmware 2.15; so I have never had to apply an update. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.
Good Value (Since we all figure it's ok to pay $1/gb instead of $0.10/gb)

Fast.
Purchased December 28, 2011, came with latest firmware 2.15.
Software download and check of firmware was a snap. Absolutely no problem.
No issues encountered loading/running Win7 Ultimate x64.
- Weaknesses:
- Reading previous reviews where BSOD seemed to be encountered too frequently (at all).
- Summary:
- Purchased drive after reading all reviews and many other googles.
Drive is a good performer, especially with sale price & rebate.
It looks like the drive comes with decent firmware now, unless you get unlucky with old stock somewhere.
Follow everyones advise and check/update firmware (if required) by plugging it into your existing install before loading Win.
Just ordered second unit to run RAID0 for system partition while 3 x WD Cav Black 1TB RAID5 for data.
I recommend this product.

- Strengths:
- Price and promised speed

- - Does not come with 3.5 bracket.
- BSODs. Ive read about firmware flashing, but im afraid store might not accept returns if the firmware is flashed. As a first timer with SSD and store - decided to go back and replace it with Corsair Force GT for a few extra.
- Summary:
Ok

Great Value at $169.99 AND $30 rebate
- Weaknesses:
- I didn't have any firmware issues, and firmware was updated very easily with windows 7 ultimate, straight from their utility. I did have to use the partition utility to format & assign it however.
Perhaps not the easiest disk to install, but not a big deal for anyone who's aware of it and has some computer knowledge.
- Summary:
- Very fast, worth every penny.

- Very Fast, but that's about it.
- Weaknesses:
- Blue screen of death on post from time to time, High fail rate, sometimes lags and screen freezes, Can't update driver after OS installed.
- Summary:
- Get IPR on this product! You will use it. My drive failed after about 3 months. It is the most troublesome out of all the drives. If you are in the market for one then go with Corsair or Intel. Stay away from this SSD or you will fine out the hard way!
Too troublesome

- Yes it's fast, and approaches 1$ per gigabyte which is a fair price in my mind.
- Weaknesses:
- Regrettably, I am trading it for another SSD.
Like Patrick Gagnon wrote earlier, the drive hangs intermittently.
I'm using the SATA III port on my ASUS p8z68, and have upgraded the firmware on the OCZ, and updated the BIOS and the drivers for windows 7.
All to no avail. 2000$ computer cannot watch youtube videos. How sad is that?

- Great price extremely fast drive. Once it has been properly installed. Upgrade to latest firmware 2.15 BEFORE you install an O/S
- Weaknesses:
- Factory Firmware 2.06
- Summary:
- If you want a good drive for a cheap price and are willing to spend 10 minutes of prep work go for it!!
Download the Linux image

Burn CD Image
Boot machine from CD and update the firmware and install the temp fix Make sure you run the update firmware " TWICE" one for 2.08 / 09 second for 2.15
I was able to upgrade with my Win7 64bit installed using the method above..

- I bought this drive to repace the original in my ASUS laptop followed the excellent post here [http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?82289-OCZ-SandForce-Linux-based-firmware-update-tool].
Then applied the tweaks from an earlier review on this product.
