Good SSD From A Reliable Manufacturer

5/5

Joey from Calgary writes:
Strengths:
-Fast
-Reliable; Intel SSDs supposedly have the lowest failure rates which gives me peace of mind
-80GB is a good size for OS and a few games
-Came with a nifty silver and blue "Speed Demon - Intel Solid State Drive" sticker
-You can download Intel's SSD Toolbox from their website for TRIMing, maintenance, monitoring, etc.
Weaknesses:
-Came in an unattractive brown cardboard box
Summary:
A little bit more expensive than other SSDs, but I was willing to pay a bit extra for Intel reliability and warranty. I am very happy with it.

Fast - Just make sure you get the latest firmware

Strengths:
- Performance. The difference in Windows and application load times is significant.
- Reliability. Intel makes the most reliable SSDs out there.
Weaknesses:
Rare firmware bug that makes the BIOS think the drive is 8MB in size (never had a problem with any of my computers). Fix is here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18363
Summary:
For general users, you will get better performance buying a $400 laptop and putting one of these in than buying a laptop twice the price.
