- Strengths:
- High capacity and very fast
Regular firmware updates from OCZ
- Weaknesses:
- On my older laptop with a SATA1 (1.5 Gbps) controller, I cannot get the Vertex3 drive to run stable.
Windows XP either gets a BSOD or delayed write errors
The OCZ Vertex3 forums are filled with BSOD problems on older hardware
- Summary:
- The Vertex3 is probably a good drive for a new system that has a modern SATA3 controller. I would stay away from this drive for any older systems.

- Strengths:
- - Win 7 x64 recognized the drive in RAID0 immediately
- Fast!!!
- Comes with 3.5" adapter
- Weaknesses:
- - Developed bad sector immediately (not the end of the world but not a real confidence builder either)
- OCZ's software to monitor SMART attributes lacking
- Summary:
- This SSD uses MLC NAND flash memory which is more likely to produce errors. I have 2 drives in RAID0. With a few hours of use, Windows 7 froze then the array failed. After a quick reset, I tried using OCZ's SSD Toolbox software to diagnose the problem but it did not recognize the drives in RAID0 to read the SMART attributes. I downloaded Intel's SSD Toolbox software which sort of works - showed that one of the drives already developed a bad sector. Should have bought the IPR plan!

- Wow it is fast. I have a OCZ 60 gb hard drive and am very happy with it also - but needed more space on the boot drive. The 240 is the fastest piece of hardware on my computer. Run the Windows 7 "Check the Windows Experience Index" on your computer. My OCZ is rated 7.8 out of 7.9.
