Strengths:
Cheap (when on sale it, I got it for 68.99) Nice storage space 5900RPM
Weaknesses:
Died on me after 4 months.
Summary:
Worked excellent when it was running, but just died after 4 months. Although from the sounds of it, it's not a common thing and I guess I just got unluck.

Does the job well

Strengths:
-Bought it for $60, perfect price -Speeds are actually pretty good
Weaknesses:
-No way to check Seagate warranty status, so I always preferred taking an IPR for these
Summary:
I have always been skeptical towards Seagate as their brand has a hit and miss reputation, however, this drive has worked for me for the past 6 months, so can't really complain. I am using it as a tertiary backup for my already raid 2 TB drives, and this drive has not failed me. When using the drive with a PCIe SATA3 card, it gives my an average speed of 100-140 MB/s read and write, yeah amazingly. When docked on my Thermaltake Blacx Duet 5G, then about 60-90 MB/s with the USB 3.0, i'm impressed

Good for the money

Strengths:
Quiet, faster than you'd expect for a "green" drive.
Weaknesses:
Nothing, really. The 5900 RPM rotational speed means they use more power than WD's Green series, but for home systems with a couple of these drives you'll never notice the difference.
Summary:
Cheap data buckets. Work fine, don't make a racket like the high performance series drives.

To the reviewer that says they're faster than you'd expect a 5400 RPM drive to be: that's because they're actually 5900 RPM drives.

Great HDD!

Strengths:
- Price, it's almost always on a rolling sale.
- Performance, they're amazing by themselves and even better in RAID!
Weaknesses:
- Price, since they're always on for different sale prices I always end up waiting to see if I can get them cheaper. $60-$70 seems to be the best bet.
Summary:
Have four of these running on an LSI 9260-8i RAID card in RAID-5. Get 100 MB/s write speeds and great read speeds when configured properly. Since it's a SATA III HDD you should pair it with a SATA III capable RAID card. I don't suggest running these drives on a cheap SATA controller with software RAID functionality built in.

Great Value!

Strengths:
-Price
-Fast for a 5400rpm Drive
-Runs cool
-64mb cache
-Sata 6Gbps
Weaknesses:
None
Summary:
I was quite surprised by the speed of the drive. It benched at 98.4MB/s and 14.1ms access time with HD Tune on the velocity SATA to USB 3.0 adapter.
The drive also runs surprisingly cool and quiet. Despite the setback with firmware a few years ago, Seagate has definitely come back.

Meh!

Jim from Calgary writes:
Strengths:
-Its a good size for a good price
-Drives work great by them selfs
-Drives work in a Raid 1 or 0
Weaknesses:
-Although they seem to work in a raid 5 and 10, they are SLOW!!! just to give an idea, its been 8 days now and my 4 2tb drives are at 95% formatted. using two different Raid cards, one 3ware and the other Vantec UGT-ST310R.

Called the store, and the thought is, if the drives work and the Raid card work, then there is no problem. The problem comes in when you put all these together.
Summary:
Great for the Kids, Bad for the geek. Shame really, I will continue to test, but I dont hold out a lot of hope. It was my intention to use these drives in an array for my media server, but with the performance I dont think I can.

No problems

Strengths:
Price / Space ratio is great !
Weaknesses:
Nothing to complain about.
Summary:
I have been running the drive in my media server for about 6 months now (moderate to heavy usage.. average 2GB transfer a day split between read/write), no issues at all.

Strengths:
Low cost many space
Weaknesses:
Buy two drive last week and One drive fail, Bios and partition is OK, but when format I got an error. For other drive don't put any thing serious yet. I have to observe it.
Summary:
Still no good.
