Strengths:
None - how would I know, did not work
Weaknesses:
The one I got was defective, did not work. Instead of them just giving me a new one I now have to wait 6-8 weeks for Media Sonic to give me a new one or refund me, essentially wasting my time. Of course I could always BUY A NEW ONE an risk going through the whole ordeal again. This "store credit" stuff is a cheesy way to trap the customer to the store. MS also does not clarify their instructions. There are two modes for every RAID option. Above 2TB & Under 2TB.
Summary:
Why am I ALWAYS getting defective units. Who is making all these gadgets, the failure rate for Computer hardware is SKY HIGH!!! For example Seagates super duper 3TB hard drive has a failure rate at 35% so say Memory Express.

Warning - Will not work with PVR's

Easy to setup. Great price for USB3 & eSATA which is getting harder and harder to find in an enclosure.
Weaknesses:
Bought a new Mediasonic and 2 new drives (bought together because they caution drives should be the same). Built a 2 drive RAID and it worked fine until a couple days later, all of my recorded shows were gone. This thing won't stay "recognized" by the Gateway for more than a few days.
Summary:
You see the same complaint about the Mediasonic on a number of internet forums. Concerns brought to their support forum are rudely dismissed along with some feigned sympathy for your lost data, wasted time, and wasted money. They show no intention of trying to understand the problem, so I very much doubt it will ever be fixed.

Great little 2 drive raid array!

Strengths:
-Easy to setup RAID
-Works with 3TB HDDs!!!
-Inexpensive

I have a Mac Mini server in the basement for streaming videos and other related media, but my Lacie 2Big was starting to fill up (2TB). I got two 3TB Hitachi hard drives for my birthday, and I couldn't for the life of me find an enclosure that actually recognized the 3TB drives properly! This little baby works great in Raid0 (stripped), and shows up as 6TB on my Mac Mini. Also about half the price of my Lacie 2Big that I bought only ab
Weaknesses:
-Plastic outside enclosure (interior is mostly aluminum however)
-Case is a little weird to open
-PDF manual only (no hard copy)
Summary:
Great unit if you're using 3TB drives.

Epic NAS Solution!

Strengths:
USB 3.0 & eSATA (though I only use USB 2.0 for now)
Easy to set up (if you follow the instructions here >> http://forum.mediasonic.ca/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=101)
Fast speeds (even with USB 2.0)
Relatively cool
Low profile
Weaknesses:
None so far
Summary:
I bought 2 of these after reading a few reviews. I threw 2x2TB WD Caviar Green drives in the first running RAID1 and 2x1TB WD Caviar blacks running RAID1 in the second. Then I followed instructions in the link above, connected to my Windows 7 box, formatted (with MBR), then connected them both to my Asus RT-N56U (that I also bought from MemEx!). Both units were recognized via USB 2.0 on the router and now has become the greatest media server solution I've ever used! Highly Recommended!

Great device

Strengths:
- Two bays with only one eSATA/USB3 cable
- Fast transfer/hot-swap capable with eSATA
- Works fine with new 3GB drive
- Has active cooling
Weaknesses:
- Fan is very small (20mm) so not much air moved (but it's silent), I'm running with two drives, one hits around 49c, other 43c.
Summary:
Great option for external storage. I use mine for back-up purposes with my desktop. Both drives (3TB SATAIII and 1TB SATAII) show independently (in the mode I use) in Windows without issue as my eSATA port has cloning (JMB 363 on old Asus P5B-Deluxe). Haven't tried the RAID mode as I do not need it for my purpose.

Very fast copying to/from drives with eSATA. Haven't tried USB3 as motherboard doesn't support it.
