Great burner to backup XGD3

First one replaced, and poor software included

- 1st one dead on arrival - replaced by ME. Second one appears to work so far, but now I worry about the long term quality.
It comes with a 3 year old copy of Nero Express. Very weak, and just seems to want you to buy the new expensive version. They shouldn't bundle bloatware with a part like this. The audio burning software can't even handle mp3's - and prompts you to buy the newer version. - Summary:
- Quality is suspect and software is weak.
Returning - dead on arrival

- Dead on arrival. Half way through installing Windows it reported disk errors. I eventually got Windows installed with another disk. This thing couldn't read more than 1/2 the driver and utility disks. I'm taking it back - hopefully ME will let me return it since it's less than 2 days since I got it.

- Products aren't perfect, but why would I ever buy this brand again when it's costing me time and money to take it back?

- not sure if it's thee dvd rom, but upon system boot up, can hear the dvd create very small mechanical squeaky sounds? not even sure if they are error sounds, feels more like normal mechanical operations sound - albeit maybe a little on the louder side but all in all very good drive.
originally i was planning to buy a lg since lg has always been had good drives and great value but ME made a small error and gave me this one instead. no biggie, fate for me to discover new brand.
