Great for the Price

- Brite LED light... But I just removed the Clear Len where the lens come through and took a Black Permanent marker and black it out from the inside a few times, and reinstalled. The LED is so bright that it still shone through, but not blinding...much better!

- I would definitely buy again... Actually I'm going tomorrow cause it's on sale.

- This thing is a perfectly acceptable external enclosure, especially at a price point of $15.00, or lower. I own multiple external drives from various manufacturers and I would say these rank high on the quality feel because the metal shell is comparable to a Lacie drive, one of the few companies that still offer high quality casing and not minimal metal interior with mostly a plastic exterior like WD/Seagate. The provided cable is junk, but ME provides a replacement at the check.
- Weaknesses:
- The activity light is bright, too bright, but can be covered with a piece of electric tape or just put against something to block it. USB 2.0 means slower speed but keep in mind most media players these days still only utilize USB 2.0 since it can properly play 720p/1080p .mkv and even 1080p full AVC/VC.1 bluray rips (50+ gigs sometimes). So unless you're always using it or need to share files quick there shouldn't be a problem.
- Summary:
- If you can buy this on sale for under $10.00 I would recommend it, you probably have some older drives you can salvage with this and at that price even a 250 gigabyte external hdd is better then a dust collector. Most recommended after market external hard drive enclosure in my book.
For $15, you can't go too wrong

- It works right out of the box for some 500g seagate SATA drives I have lying around. I'm not sure what problems the others have run into but I'm happy with it. If it breaks down after a couple of months, then I'll say you get what you pay for, but for now, I can get data onto those disks. Mission accomplished. That and the price gets it 5 stars from me.
Not worth it, even at $15. Spend a few bucks more and get something better.

- Construction quality not the best, a little slow, On lamp is too bright (one sits next to my video player as a media drive, and the flashing is distracting).

- I use them with a stack of old retired 500 Gbyte backup drives I have sitting around. They work great for me, no problems with any of my computers or media devices.

Unit good for 250Gb drive and exchanging files between laptop and desktop.

- I have no problems with ths unit so far. I'v stored files on it. And access them once and a while and exchanging files between my laptop and desktop. I only have a 250Gb Segate drive in there. Not tried 2Tb's or anything.

- Only USB2. Since I also use eSATA now, the speed difference is quite noticable, even when in the policy tab you choose 'Optimize for Performance'. The unit can get hot like other enclosures. So I would be careful, keep it ventilated and let if cool off.
- Summary:
- For the price, it's good. I'd look at an eSata or USB3 option if that is where you're going in the near future. If you only use usb2, this is ok. I would try and search or email this company if you want to put larger hard drives or SSD's inside and double check.

- Boath enclosures had issues right away, said that it was win 7 compatable neaather one have supported drivers after tring on 3 diff systems. they will be getting them back and exchanging for something else!

- Unit dead after 1 day. Tested my 2TB Hitachi HDD with another enclosure and everything works great. Tried another 500GB Seagate with this enclosure, still not working. I'm taking my back to MemoryExpress tomorrow

- This is my 4th velocity enclosure and the 1st one that dead. I would buy the brand again but this is a little disappointing
