Very good hard drive

Ben from Calgary writes:
Strengths:
Very reliable, large storage space, quiet.
Weaknesses:
Slightly pricier but worth it.
Summary:
We replaced two hard drives which were giving warning signs of failure. We switched to these SATA III hard drives, and they work like a charm. No issues (hardware or software) with them at all. I would consider them reliable and worth it. If you are sick of other hard drives going all the time, give these a try. I have yet to have one die on me.

Quiet and reliable.

Strengths:
-One of the more cost effective 2T Hard Drives on the market today. -Very quiet. -No vibrations. -fast. -well built. -Sizable cache (64MB).
Weaknesses:
-Nothing comes to mind.
Summary:
Silent, vibration-free, with a larger cache than most Hard Drives and it is one of the cheaper SATA III Hard Drives on the market. Has yet to cause any issues for me.

Solid and quiet

Strengths:
Biggest positive is 2TB at cheep price.
Quiet and runs pretty cool
Future proofed my computer when Ivy Bridge hexacore is released next year.
Weaknesses:
Expected SATA 3 drives to perform a little better on SATA2 but guess I was dreaming. Not really a weakness though
Summary:
Bought 3 so far. May consider another one for my external case.

Fast and Reliable

Ernie from Calgary writes:
Strengths:
Reliability - I've owned Hitachi drives for almost 5 years without issues.
Speed - Drive is incredibly fast.
Noise - Very quiet.
Weaknesses:
None.
Summary:
It's sad to see Hitachi's HDD business being bought out by WD. Now I may have to look for alternatives in the future because these are one of the best mechanical HDDs money can buy followed by Samsung's drives which, coincidentally, is merging their HDD business with Seagate =/.

Same as Justadoc

James from Edmonton writes:
Strengths:
Reliability - No failures with Hitachi over 4+ years on any drive to date.
Low Power - Similar power draw as green drives without head parking issues.
Speed.
Compatibility - no 4kb BS unlike WDC Hard drives, simply works.
Weaknesses:
Absolutely none to speak of yet.
Summary:
The "only" choice as Seagate offers bricks, WDC offers headaches.
Only sad fact is Hitachi was bought up by WDC, so I expect them to use the same nonsense as WDC soon. Get these while you can.

Great product

I've had 5 of these drives running in my windows home server for over a year and haven't had an issue with any of them yet. I would highly recommend them

ReadyNAS Duo + 2TB Hitachi Deskstar 7K2000 x 2

Justadoc from Calgary writes:
Strengths:
Simple to use. Solid reputation and quality. Good packaging.
7200 RPM. Very quiet. Reasonably cool.
Weaknesses:
Rounded screw heads don't fit tight enclosure.
More expensive that 5400 RPM 2TB offerings.
Summary:
Slick and worry-free install of 2 x 2TB drives into my ReadyNAS Duo. Hot swap old 1TB drive, hot plug new Hitachi, initialize/sync. Repeat. Reboot and expand. Done in about 8 hours each drive.

Avoided the Seagate Barracudas due to reviews of bad quality. The WD Caviars use the finicky 4KB tech that needs stuff done to the Duo and then may/may not work. Pay a bit more and no headaches, patches or problems.
