Big storage paves the way for new platforms
The Deskstar™ 7K3000 is Hitachi's first hard drive to deliver an enormous three terabytes of storage capacity and 7200 RPM performance in a standard 3.5-inch form factor. The 7K3000 is also the first Hitachi hard drive with a 6Gb/s SATA interface, which along with its 64MB cache buffer delivers a big boost to performance over the previous generation product. The Deskstar 7K3000 is designed to allow manufacturers to leverage the benefits of the latest components and operating systems to deliver high-performance, high-capacity, power-efficient systems. Deskstar 7K3000 is also available in 2TB and 1.5TB models that accommodate existing systems, as well as new designs.
Excellent performance and energy efficiency
The Deskstar 7K3000 delivers an extraordinary blend of capacity, performance and power efficiency. All capacities will ship with 64MB cache buffer and 6Gb/s SATA interface. This configuration shows an improvement of up to 27% over previous generation products in PCMark Vantage testing scores. In addition, the 2TB 7K3000 offers idle power savings of up to 30% over previous generation products, making it an ideal storage platform for desktop computing. Leveraging eighth-generation power management technology, including power-saving innovations like HiVERT™ technology, this drive delivers excellent power efficiency and thermal emissions to help manufacturers meet energy compliance targets and extend drive life.

The Deskstar 7K3000 demonstrates Hitachi ecological leadership with its halogen-free design and power-efficient operation. Both these features helped qualify the drive for the Hitachi EcoTrac classification, which identifies products that minimize environmental impact in the areas of product design, manufacturing, operation and disposal.
