- Strengths:
- Faster on both boot and run.Big cache.
- Weaknesses:
- Not notice yet,runs good
- Summary:
- As a replacement for laptop expect a little less battery life.In mine come to around half hour less,well.. Momentus draw more power then my original WD,so I look as payment for speed.I did 3 partitions and left one for system use only.
Impressed

- Strengths:
- -Boot up times in win 7
-Affordability
-Program load up times
- Weaknesses:
- None I have experienced
- Summary:
- I bought this in December of 2010 and have used it in my PS# and laptop. Both experienced significant gains from using a seagate 5400 from 2007. I swear by this hard drive. It DOES increase your loading and boot up times quicker than any other 7200 I have ever used. WORTH IT!!!
Momentus XT Rocks

- Strengths:
- 4 months and nothing but reliable so far. Substantial boost to your system performance
- Weaknesses:
- None
- Summary:
- Originally bought this drive to speed up my aging Mac but have since bought and SSD and this Momentus is now drive 1 in my machine. Continues to be reliable and offers outstanding performance. Definately buying these if I can't afford an SSD.
No good

- Strengths:
- Shiny
Fits inside standard enclosures and Asus netbook
- Weaknesses:
- On Windows XP the drive light flashes almost constantly.
Requires processor power.
- Summary:
- I installed my friend's drive in my Asus Netbook (N280, 2GB) and this drive dragged my entire system down because it appeared to require the CPU to decipher what to store on the SSD component. Couldn't even play Age of Empires 2...on a netbook I had overclocked enough to run Madden 2008.
Maybe it works better on a Core2 or in Windows 7 environment, but on an Atom netbook you're MUCH better off with a 7200 or even 5400 HDD!
Smart Investment for Many Scenarios

- Strengths:
- After a couple of boots, your OS and key programs will launch quite quickly. Applications such as Word will start opening in 2 -3 seconds, and boot time will often be cut in half.
This product can be a phenomenal way to breathe life into new and old machines (granted they have a SATA interface). I've replaced three laptop hard drives including one new Dell Latitude E6510, a 4.5-year-old Dell Inspiron 6400, and a 4-year-old Toshiba U305. All 3 machines have
seen notable performance gains.
- Weaknesses:
- It's still a hard drive with comparitively limited IOPS's, and it takes some moderate usage to optimize to your computing habits. File copying and large-volume transfers will still happen at the speed of a traditional 7200RPM drive.
- Summary:
- I'm running a MacBook Pro with 512GB SSD, so I have no false allusions about what a Momentus XT is and isn't. This is a Hybrid Hard Drive, not an SSD, but you can see substantial performance improvements in your day-to-day operations and loading times.
Unreliable

- Strengths:
- None that I'm aware of
- Weaknesses:
- Not as fast as advertised, daily BSOD's, made by Seagate
- Summary:
- Seems slow when it "Learns" which happened constantly maybe due to the small SSD. Constant BSOD. The drive may have been faulty, but It's been returned and my WD black is working much more reliably and faster. I tend to avoid Seagate, this drive reminded my why.
Outstanding

- Strengths:
- 7200RPM
4gb SSD of adaptive memory technology
affordable for hybrid
read/write speed
- Weaknesses:
- read/write access time
- Summary:
- It the perfect upgrade for a notebook or even a PS3 by giving outstanding performance when you use the same applications or when you play games on PS3. My PS3 got 33% more performance on installing gamedata and loading levels.
be careful, some issues with this hdd

- Strengths:
- faster, newer technology
- Weaknesses:
- expensive
unreliable so far, I have read several other people having this drive suddenly stop working 1-2 months after, this is exactly what happened to me and my external docking bay can't even recognize it to recover data, so all is lost.
- Summary:
- use with caution, and back up your data, and when I mean several, I'm not talking about 1 or 2, I've run into several threads of these Momentus XT issues on google check for yourself.
Good luck.
Good

Awesome for laptops
- Weaknesses:

- Summary:
- Do not expect this to run like a SSD.
Not so impressed

HL from Edmonton writes:
- Strengths:
- Two weeks after installation and it runs just like any other 7200 RPM 500 Gig laptop drive. Since Seagate drives arent the most relieable, the fact it's still running qualifies as a strength.
- Weaknesses:
- Boot up and program speed gains not as advertised. I replaced a stanard Seagate Drive, same specs, and find this is no faster. Boot up still takes 30 seconds and program start ups still take the same amount of time as they did with the old drive.
- Summary:
- The SSD part of this drive doesn't seem to kick in at all, at least not as far as reducing start up times. Seagate has a long history of troubles and this is looking like just another issue for them. I took a chance and bought a Seagate drive, my bad. Won't happen again.
