Strengths:
I guess it looks OK
Weaknesses:
Horrible firmware, no updates
Summary:
Buy something else. Cheaper is not better if it doesn't work.

Slow Slow Slow

Well built, easy to set up for anyone with a bit of experience.

Firmware update from manufacturer was availabe and installed fine, didnt with performance though.
Weaknesses:
LAN speed is extremely slow. If all you need to do is move a couple of 5 MB files around no worries but if your going to try moving a couple of gigs on to or off of this thing, go find something that will keep your mind occupied for a day because its that slow.

Fan far to small to keep a coupld of 7200 RPM drives cool, the way the air tha is moved hrough the case is also a poor design so youend up with VERY hot drives. I'mtalking so hot you cant hold them.

Didnt recognize an ext USB drive.
Summary:
Not worth buying, ther are other NAS products that are only a few bucks more but are well worth spending the money on. This box will soon be added to the pile I keep in a closet along with the other stuff I dont want my wife to know I wasted money on.

Nice hardware, but poor SW

Strengths:
This is a sturdy aluminum case, with nicely designed sliders to hang the hdds on. The fan is quiet and kept things cool.

Nice features (in theory - see weaknesses) 2 USB ports that can run external HDDs, or even a usb hub and many many hdds...

Nice lights on the front face - power and usage lights for both hdds and both usb ports
Weaknesses:
Ugly non-intuitive web interface for setup.

No NTFS support. FAT32 performance so so (neet to use ext2 or ext3)

The nice services available (BT, itunes serving, ftp) are flakey at best.

All the problems are SW, and have not been adressed in updates as yet
Summary:
If they put out a really good FW update, this would be a great unit. IMO the HW is better built and designed than the DLINK 323...

However, the 323 is easily hackable (rather, more knowledgeable people than I have already done the hacking, so there are easily available hack to apply) making it a more functional choice.

Unfortunately I have had to return the valkyrie.

Web based interface isn't great...

Strengths:
Chassis appears to be of decent build quality. Very solid.
Weaknesses:
Web based user interface is poor.
Chassis fan on my unit did not work properly.
Documentation is poor.
No firmware updates from manufacturer.
Summary:
Would not suggest this unit. I returned it and bought a D-Link DNS-323. I am now much happier.
